The same way it's paid for now...some people have co-pays, others pay a part of their own insurance, some pay for some xtra coverage, and some rare companies pay it all. Nothing really would change, the same people do the same thing as always. Those on welfare or state aid can already get every single thing paid for under the sun except plastic surgery....and in some cases even that. The only ones not getting the proper healthcare are those of us who do pay for it and work. I take the $4.00 medication list from Walmart and give it to the doctor, then I have her look to see which ones will work for my mothers' needs.
BIG SIGH .... I have "good" insurance, . Someday you folks are going to grow older (I hope anyway, that you live long) and you are going to need a medicine that costs $300.00+ and be on a fixed income. Already paying $600.00 for the Xtra coverage insurance that doesn't cover enough. I would much rather pay the insurance a small premium increase and be able to get the medicine/procedure needed then try and dig out of my butt for the things not covered. One time of needing something not covered can clean the bank account....depending on what it is. The last kicker were some injections my mother needed at over $400.00 for the perscription to be filled, it came in a box of 10...I used three on her before the doctor decided to change her medication ....well the box is open, but the meds, in a preloaded syringe and are individually wraped...no refunds sorry. Her co-pay is normally $2.00...oops that med wasn't covered, and they had no genaric copy to offer.
If it's FDA approved...I want it covered.
One of my wifes allergy meds cost us over 300 a month A F T E R insurance. We deal with it, just like our other co pays. Shouldn't people with health issues be expected to pick up their own tab?
