Yes......If your really interested in a check valve check out CustomAquatics, and AquaEco....I know CustomAquatics has clear check valves that are tru union design and you can visually inspect them and I'm pretty sure from past experience with them that they can be rebuilt. BTW I ended up not putting any holes or check valves in the line because I have plenty of head room in my sump that it wont overflow. Even with the return lines pushed all the way down and the bottom tank at the level it normally sets I still have around 2-3 inches of space left in the sump.
