Coral Beauty - has ICH!!!!!!

Well it has hit me, I woke up this morning with my CB covered in white spots, I read the stickies in the Diseae section, what do all you good people think is the best copper or hypo. I already removed her from the DT tank, easier than I thought - I have her in a 5 gallon pail with DT water - setting up a ten gallon hospital tank. This weekend I am going to set up a permanent 25 gallon hospital tank. Thanks

Copper would be the way to go imo..are there any other fish in your display that could also have ich?

How long has the CB in the tank? Chances are ich is now in the system, and all of them will get sick. Sorry, but you will prob. see the outbreak on them soon. I would set up the larger hospital tank and treat them all, because if its in your system, you will just reinfest the CB once it goes back in the display.

9 months - I think you are right - would a 25 gallon be big enough for a hospital tank, I can get a bigger one if needed. Thanks
Edit - I have 8 fish in total
2 clowns
2 banggai card
1 bi coloed blenny
2 blue green chromis

Oh Al, what bummer..Absolutely you now have ich in the entire system, treating the one sick fish is not going to take care of your problem. The DT would have to remain empty of all fish for 6 to 8 weeks. If you are like me, you don’t have a hospital tank big enough to house all your fish for that long, let alone treating them.
Here is one idea you could consider…You might be better off putting rock into tubs with saltwater and all your crabs, snails and whatever inverts in there too. Keep the fish in the display and treat it all with hypo. If you have corals put them in the hospital tank with lights to keep them happy.

OK here is my plan -
I have the CB out - I am going to put him in the 10 gallon for today
I have a 40 breeder empty - I will set that up for a hospital tank for the fish
Copper treat the CB right now in the ten gallon - he has alot of spots but is stil eating
Get all the other fish out into the 40 breeder and start treatment.
Leave DT empty of fish for 6 to 8 weeks as prescribed
Now HT do I cooper or hypo - I am leaning towrd cooper.
Thanks everyone.

Wait....you have had the coral beauty for 9mths? Have you added any new fish recently? Only the rock? And was this base "dead" rock or live? What do you think you should of quarantined? Just make sure this is ich and not lympho. And if it is indeed ich, its a pia but treatable. Your plan sounds good. a 40g would be good. and I would do copper. just my opinion of course. I think hypo is the pits to try and do.

I looks in the disease section it is lympho - it is white spots not patches like lympho. I will get the CB in HT and take a picture - it is just about ready,
it was dead rock - I added a bi colored blennie about 3 weeks ago.
I never QT anything I added over the last year - everything looked good always never had a problem - when I added the new rock I think MRS. CB got stressed.
Thanks for all your help/

Ok take a pic. Your prob. right though. I was just checking. Maybe it got stressed, but the bicolor could of introduced it into the tank, a few white spots were missed, and your just now seeing it because its worse.

Thank you my friend, I will get some pictures soon then it is off to the LFS - what brand of cooper treatment and test kit should I get.
Going to be fun catching these fish I think - the CB was easy just put some mysis in and she came out.

Well, I use coppersafe by mardel. It says that it maintains a level of 1.5ppm to 2.0ppm when used as directed, and copper test kits that measure chelated copper will work.

I went to the pet store in town, not the good one that is farther away, 40 minute drive. They had some ich treatment drops. So I put it in the CB is acting normal hopefully this helps him. Now for the tast of setting up the 40 gallon HT - I have to build a makeshift stand and I already started making water, skating with my son this afternoon. So tonight we will go to the good LFS and get some other things for the HT. Always pays to have an extra tank kicking around. I got the 40 breeder at the 1$ sale at *****.

The best stuff the LFS had was seachem, thanks meowzer, the CB looks like she is doing OK. Making water and I got some RO water from our store - tomorrow setting up 40 breeder for HT - for all the fish. This is a big lesson for me. Going to be fun catching all the fish. I need to make a good strong stand for the 40 breeder tomorrow as well - 2x6's and 2x4's. Tomorrow we are supposed to get slammed with more snow already have foot and a half.
