Ok...when I'm done with this tank...maybe I'll put pics on of all my extra stuff, pvc, bulkheads etc and give them away too...I'd rather buy new ones later than have stuff sitting for a year or so in the garage....glad you are finding a use for it. And thanks again
Ok one question....the over flow box kindof protects me a bit by giving me a way to change and correct problems down the road with the return and drain bulkheads....but I'm looking at my plan for the CL this bulkhead is low in the tank on the opposite side. . If I get a bulkhead leak here over time...how will I change it? should I anticipate this as a possibility and make some kind of plan to facilitate fixing it if it cracks or goes bad???like put a smaller overflow box around it with its own bulkhead which could then be capped, and the overflow drained, in the event this would need to be changed....or is messed up bulkheads so rare and occurrance , I'll be dead and gone before it ever happens????
IMO I don't think you should have any real issues with the bulkhead leaking....Possibly years, you might see something or the gasket could go bad, but I think it would be perfectly fine.....I really don't see any need to put any type of overflow around the bulkhead.........How low down in the tank is the bulkhead?
Ok, Its about 2 inches up from the bottom....Maybe I should put in a heavy duty bulkhead since the gaskets are much thicker? They would probably last alot longer. I'd just have to grind the hole out a bit bigger.:
Well I'm sorry I am taking so long but here are some updates. I decided to go with the heavy duty bulkhead in the hole for the CL, since its low in the tank and there's no way I will be able to easily fix it if it craps out...so I had to wait for one to come in the mail.....then the scary part, redrilling the glass again...but it went fine....so here's picks of the plumbing so far, the returns and the CL. Nothing is glued yet, so tell me if there is something you would change or do differently...thanks shelley
Very impressive! I do alot of art (mainly digital, some metal) and I get the same feeling you do. I basically think most of my stuff sucks. I won't even get into a conversation with you about ceramics though...I can't work the stuff to save my life.
that is some seriously amazing work. You should be truly proud of yourself. I thought I did good putting a 180 in a wall, but your tank room is amazing...keep the pics coming with updates.
I can't believe I just sat here and read all 3 pages of this ...inspiring work
Why did you choose the acrylic overflow instead of the standing drain??...I'm thinking about drilling my 20 gallon...I'm not sure if I would want to have it consumed by a overflow box.
Crox...don't worry I didn't forget about your LR, its all being aerated and fed nicely and will do fine....whenever I finally get it in....
the lower heavy duty bulkhead is for the CL
Dual 45 s lets see pics of that artwork you do.......pretty please
tgruby...I probably will add a standing drain, durso esque, as well being I'm of the paranoid of flooding my family room type...I just haven't put it in yet....some say this also quiets things a bit....
Also moved the freaking sump in the basement to the floor and the freaking pump is still way too strong...so get almost shut down still...

Perhaps you can shunt some of its output into a venturi valve driven skimmer? Kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Not to mention a possible addon refuge?
I used to have the chiller on a different pump, so, I may make two diversions off of the main pump, one to the skimmer and another to the uv, which also has its own pump, then maybe the pump will behave like a normal pump.
