I hate when music threads come to this. People argue about who was the greatest and what means what. Musical artists shouldn't be judged. They play what they play. It means/meant what it did/does to them at the time. This goes for newer artists as well.

Said condition being played exclusively at three AM when intoxicated.

I don't care what everyone else thinks, but the greatest classic rocker is carlos santana, and Jim Morrison!

did anyone mention some Pink Floyd - "Wish You Were Here" yet.
".... lost souls swimming in a fish bowl..."
i would think the whole swimming in a fish bowl applies to 99.95% of the people on here. The other .05% would be "Comfortably Numb"

The first concert I ever attended was Pink Floyd the Division Bell tour in 1994. I was 16 years old.
Nuge - Stranglehold
Zep - Whole Lotta Love
Heart (NOT MENTIONED YET) - Barracuda
Boston - More Than a Feeling
Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond prts 1-9
Neil Young (NOT MENTIONED YET) - Down By The River
Guns N Roses (I'll call it classic rock, it fits) - Sweet Child
I would also contend that, FOR ME, Sweet Child might be the greatest song of all time, in my opinion. Sweet solo, cheesy metaphors, band in constant turmoil, about a girl, great time changes. What else do you need.
But, don't want to argue. Just my opinion. Don't want to change anyone elses mind. Just enjoy the music you love. It doesn't last forever.
Jimmy, Janis, Morrison, Hoon, Staley, Keith Moon, Ronnie Van Zant, Mercury, Gaye, Cobain, Elvis, Lennon, and Ol' Dirty

They named the band after their high school janitor. That cracks me up.

Angus was 10 years old in 1965, pretty cool his parents let him be a touring guitarist at such a young age....
Also the age difference is a big deal, 65 Hard Rock wasn't popular or abundant. Come 1973 when ACDC started hard rock was some of the biggest acts.
In the end its silly to argue over such a subjective topic.
you can read the histories of the bands, or you can continue to make stuff up. the entire Young family were musicians and Angus was in a band as early as 1963 and was in at least 2 bands prior to AC/DC with his brother Malcolm, who is older than him. I never said he was in a "touring" band at age 10. and btw, Sabbath weren't a touring band in the mid-60s either. they were playing bars around their hometown playing cover songs, just like the future members of AC/DC.

actually, it was the high school gym teacher, because he was cruel to "hippie" students who had long hair.

So I didn't see Sabbath play in 1965 in Dresden Germany? Oh no senility has set in. Also, I looked up the history AC/DC from the Encyclopedia of Music. I find it to be a fair source.

Black Sabbath formed in 1968. so no, you most definitely did NOT see them play in 1965. previous to 1968, they were in a band called Earth, in which they played blues and cover songs, NOT the future Sabbath songs. MAYBE you saw a band in 1965 called "Black Sabbath" (though I highly doubt it due to the satanic conotations of the term), but it was not a band consisting of Ozzy/Iommi/Ward/Butler.

Yea, just like when Ozzy got sued by some family that said their son offed himself after he listened to "Suicide Solution". If they actually took the time to listen to the lyrics of the song, it's so obviously about alcoholism.
Needless to say... the morons lost the case.
