Finally, Here It Is...

Well the grouper is gone. I hated to see him go but he had already tried to start eating some tankmates that were almost his same size!!!
I found someone who has a 90G with no fish in it, just cured LR and they want to watch him grow!

So without rereading this whole thread, What do you have left ? You've come along way since you started this thread, I'm proud of you.

I can take a few pictures when I get back home. I'm out of town right now at a party watching the UFC fights. I also rearranged my rockwork a little. Hopefully the new Octopus 800 will be here sometime this week.

Well when I caught mine I just moved the LR down to the bottom (unstacked it) and fed them. It did take 2 rounds to get them though. However when I went to catch the grouper earlier today I had to take everything out...and that was a PIA!

Well I must say I read everything that was posted on your thread...great information for me when I plan on upgrading next year.. your tank does look great though, hope everything goes well and keep us updated with how your doing...I'd like to learn more!!:

Well I went to take a picture and realized my g/f has my digital camera. I will get one later this week. I have been testing my water daily and today it was 0-0-5. I'm still a little unsure how often I should do the water changes. Right now I have been changing about 20G every other week and I last changed it about 10 days ago. Protein skimmer seems to be doing a great job and the fish appear happy and are eating well. I am trying to find someone to take the Anemone though.

You are one of the best new people I have seen in a long time with taking the information given and developing a plan of your own. Well done.
Now one last thing, do some research on the cleaner wrasse. They will normally die in captivity and are one of the critters better off left in the ocean.
Can't wait to see some pictures.

Yeah as a matter of fact I just finished reading a few pages on here about the cleaner wrasse. I'm willing to bet this won't surprise you, but I saw a cleaner wrasse in one of the LFS's DT and I was amazed at his work ethic. I asked about him and they said he would do well in my tank so I bought him. Granted he does eat flakes, pellets, shrimp and works the other fish over so I'm hoping it will live for awhile. But honestly, the thing is if I took him back to the LFS (which they don't take returns anyways) they would just sell him again to someone else. I would go turn him loose back into the ocean on one of my frequent trips to the Outer Banks here in NC but I don't think that would be very beneficial for him either. Long story short, I learned my lesson and I won't get another one. I will get neon gobies after the cleaner wrasse but I think I am pretty much stuck with this one. He does seem to be doing well right now though.

for my birthday my brother bought me a damsel. the guy at the store he bought it told him that they are vary peaceful. to make a long story short, the damsel killed a fire goby, diamond goby, two clown fish, and a green chromes. to catch the damsel i had to take all the live rock out of the tank.

Okay seems like you don't have a choice at this point. Hope all goes as well as it can with the wrasse.
Oh yeah, don't let anything go back into the ocean. You never know what nastiness you will be introducing into the environment there.

I was prepared to make a trap if needed but I guess I got lucky. Mine LOVE to eat. I just got a bigger net, approached them from the opposite end after dropping some flakes in the tank. They flew up to end I caught them from behind. You still had to be really fast though.

Yeah he's pretty much mine. I hope he does well, and I will keep the thread updated on how everybody is doing.

so whats your stock list looking like now man, and i really hope that wrasse does well, but some of the people on here have had good luck with em, i guess its another of those hit or miss kinda deals lol
nvm lol i just scrolled up after posting this originally and saw it, its looking good man, get us some pics when you can :p i need all of the ideas i can get for my tanks LOL

The only thing that has really changed, other than some fish gone is the rock work. I like it better now because I was somehow able to open the ends of the tank and stack the middle higher. It made alot more places for them to hide.

im actually researching a new foam stuff thats made for sw tanks, if i remember right, it comes in 8x10 blocks, or something like that, and you can carve it, and it will eventually become identical to LR, hosting and growing bacteria and what not, and that great thing about it is, u carve ur caves and stuff into it, glue it to your base rock, and your looking at using less LR than you would normally need, and you can basically do whatever you want with it, and have ready made caves, instead of having to move ur LR around to make all the caves and hidey holes the fish need.
as i find out more info about this stuff, ill post it :p

Yeah I knew that. He's pretty small right now and I know for sure I will have a 220-440 by next year so I'm really not concerned about it. However the store told me he would only get 10-12".

that may be as big as hes ever seen one
panther groupers grow to 70.0 cm if you convert that to feet its 2 ft 3.55 "
I dont have issues with you purchasing a small panther grouper for you tank.
this issues i have for alot of new hobbiest is not researching properly then stating i have done my research.. if you had researched this before hand your lfs could not have fed you a line of molarky.. please remember they are in it only for the money YOUR money. many stores ill tell you what they think you want to hear just to make a sale . sorry im not trying to scold you.. whats done is done, you now have a very nice tank with ALOT of very pretty fish in it.. I hope it all works out in the long run..
if you would like to know how big these fish do get do a search on fishbase.org
get real facts not based on how big they are in a tank for someone that may never have seen the real deal
now i read it all lol.. glad you got a new home for sone of them
