I mean, if you are really serious about breeding seahorses and being successful with it, you mise well get the right equipment to breed them.
Kreisels can be extremely expensive if you buy a commercialized unit - however, they can be extremely cheap if you DIY.
Now Seth....I couldn't even give proper measurments to you to build a canopy...how could you even mention a DIY Kreisel???? I certainly can't afford one. I don't want to breed seahorses, so I can't justify the money...LOL... I just hate to watch them die.
Don't offer to make one...the shipping it costs, and for me to expect Slice to make a box for the second time that the UPS gorillas can't bust up...is too much of a hassle for everyone involved. I love my acrylic sump system and everyone involved in that build...but Oh Boy what a pain to get it delivered in one piece.

That was pretty awesome and definitely came with some challenges lol. I'll probably never forget checking in and seeing the photo's and then texting, Shawn. He was peeeeved off, boy. And rightfully so! It's like the whole site went dark that day and everybody was sad. Like the day the music died. :(
But in the end everybody got involved and made it happen. Triumph was gained over the evil ups gorillas and all was right in the world again. :)
Good times, Deb! Those were some good times!
It definitely made me take a second look some ideas that I had about making tanks or furniture and stuff like that with the idea of shipping it around the country. Wondering if it could be profitable enough to be worth the hassle to produce a quality product for the hobby. And so far, I ain't seein it.

Well, eh. I guess it's all in the packaging. I think that if you ship anything like aquariums or glass or anything fragile, you should probably carry insurance on the package so that you can at least get some money back for making the product over again. Which is a pain in the butt, but you would still have a semi-happy customer.

Dude...have you not read the small novel on this site called Flower's sump/fuge build
???? Insurance...semi-happy customer???? Not in my lifetime.
They do not honor the insurance it's all just a big scam, Acrylic51 insured the sump....he actually works for UPS. They repaid the shipping only, not the worth of the sump/fuge because it was hand made and no proof of it's worth. He insured it for $400.00 ... What a crock....People on the site (I was so broke I couldn't help at all) pitched in to help with the rebuild. We had hopes that UPS would eventually come thru...after I don't know how long they re-paid the postage only.
I will not ever trust the shipping companies again...that's why I had you ship the canopy the way you did, if it were assembled it had a 85% chance of arriving busted up. Flat wood in full bubble wrape had a chance, but an acrylic tank...no...I learned my lesson.

You just hit em up traveler.....Heck me, Corey, Seth, Flower, Meowzer the list goes on and on didn't really know each other, but through a lot of hair pulling, and wrangling over ideas and concepts, rather close.....Heck I have Corey and Seth on speed dial in my phone.....They never know when my crazy mind is wondering and they'll get a call on the "bat phone"......

Lol I really love it too. I wish I was closer with some people on here though.
You are actually pretty close to a lot of people. A lot of the forum members on this site is actually from Penn. lol
There are only a handful in Florida.
All the years that I have been here, there has only been one person that I have met in person in Louisiana, and he now lives in Texas. LOL

Wow flower I never knew that people built a sump for you too!
If you ever have the time to read a short book...read that thread. It will make you laugh and cry, also give you awesome ideas on how to do things. Shawn (Acrylic51) gave great details on how to work with acrylic, good enough to teach a person how make a sump..tank whatever you desire out of the stuff. It has villians, heros and a damsel in destress. You will get to know folks on this site in a light you may never have seen before...they really are super great people.

I don't know how I missed this post...you had me searching thru that thread from midnight to about 3 am. I can totally recall each post and what was going thru my head as I reread it. Those are some awesome memories indeed. Slice saved the day by making the shipping boxes...or Monsenior (Spelling?) was going to try and drive to hand deliver everything. My only regret...we never did get together. Too many people with too many schedules and money issues to be able to unite.
I may not get to hug each and everyone of you guys, but you have to know in my heart...I love you all. LOL...I never put glass doors on my fish tank either. I do open the doors and just look at it...remembering.

Thanks...it needs to be harvested again. I took out some caulerpa...so I could see my horses. The red is covering everything in both tanks....I just got the 90g cleaned up...I should post some updates on the potbelly seahorse thread.

Yep, Slice stepped in and made those bad arse boxes with the custom cut foam inserts to help ensure that the second ones arrived intact. And our buddy Al, jumped in and made the fuge. Monseineur, was actually offering to drive from New York to Penn. and then all the way over to Flower's house so that the sump could be hand delivered and he would install it for her lol. I think he was just layed off, bored and wanted something to do. He just needed to feel needed. What ever happend to him? I'm just thankful the plumbing arrived intact lol. I remember Lois helping out as well.

It was all worth the awesome experience to be a part of for me.
Flower, she is inspiration to us all. :)

I don't see how I inspired anything...Acrylic51 (Shawn) started the whole thing for everyone to come together on the project, he is and was the inspiration. He worked so hard on both sumps, and really created a work of art.
Me...I was just the very happy recipient of everyones generosity. I love the fantastic Corey gizmo you created for my return. Thanks to Meowzer's search, I have the best skimmer I ever owned. Al made the replacement fuge and gave Shawn a break, Slice made the boxes, Monsenior was so good and offered to drive all that way and also set the sump up. I sure wish I could find that poem.
