General McChrystal relieved from command...

Are you kidding? Democrats respected Bush? No way. Neither political side respects the other and that literally bleeds all over the place. The military tends to be pro-Republican, because the Republicans are pro-military. Hard left Dems, are pro-flower children and think that we can handle our enemies by bowing down to them and blaming ourselves for everything that is wrong in the world (Obama, unfortunately, follows closely along those lines.)

What I find Ironic is who replaced him. Pertruas the same General that MOVEON.org called BETRAUS a couple years ago under Bush. Boy should be real interesting to see how well he gets along with the Administration and their Stupid ROE's. Such as and these are coming from members of a unit that Just came back from Afghainstan. Everything possible must be do0ne to avoid Killing any civilians over there EVEN IF THEY ARE SHOOTING AT YOU. So some one can basically shoot your butt with a RPG and your buddies have to watch you die.

Why does it seem that since Obama became president, politicians, military personnel, etc are disrespecting him? Did this ever happen during the Bush administration? Did a politician ever disrespect Bush during a State of the Union address? Did a general ever make fun of the Bush administration during the war? If so, please show me links. I can't think of a time where a Democrat disrespected Bush during a State of the Union address even though there was plenty to say. It pisses me off that people(senators, military) don't give Obama respect. So Yes I am jumping up and down about Obama knocking this &^
$ a few pegs down. Maybe people will start to respect him as president and so him some manors. It boils down to that their is a certain political party poutting and acting like little children because their person didn't become president.
I don't remember when I laughed so hard. Thank for posting

I don't have any issues with the guy getting canned but if he has serious complaints about rules of engagement or something I hope he has guts enough to go public and do it the right way rather than let an agenda driven reporter pick and chose how he wants to frame the comments. Call a press conference and do it right.

Personally, I think the choice of Pertruas was not only the best choice politically for Obama, but also the best choice. He has certainly proven he can turn things around (Iraq) fast.

He has problems because Obama is a democrat. That is what it boils down too. He doesn't have the backing now to blow up who ever he wants.

The military and republicans NEVER do things right. Just look at the Iraq war. Now that is pathetic.

I really dont know why you guys still bother posting in political/military/immigration threads, started by scottnlisa.
Anyone can read any thread and/or post, with them talking about said topics and know they haven't the slightest idea what they're talking about.

Uh you do know that OBAMA appointed this guy after discussing strategy with him, right?
Why in hell would he have a problem with Obama being a Democrat?

How does this back up what you claimed abot Republicans messing up the war in Iraq? I bet you spend hours throwing crap at walls. Go down to the zoo and see how the monkeys do it...you might learn something.
I am glad Petraus is in charge now. But isnt this a demotion for him as well ? After all he was in charge of CentComm. ironic petraus was hated and despised by the democrats...called a liar and now look who they are turning to....Ironic.

i am pretty sure it is a demotion for Gen. Petraus, b/c he was McCrystals boss. i am not sure exactly what that means but he is probably the best choice to get afghanistan back on track. hopefully he will be able to meet the goals/timelines put in place.
scottnlisa- i am not going to even get started. im finishing up my THIRD tour as an infantryman in iraq. the changes from 2003, 2006, and 2009 are so immense its hard to imagine its the same country. the WMD thing, we (the united states) have all the documents of the anthrax/sarin gas etc that we sold saddam in the 80s, plus all the pics of the kurds being gassed. sorry we didnt find a huge factory of the stuff or US troops didnt get gassed in the invasion. but the crap was here just not in huge quantities. i could go on an on, but the fact is Gen Petraus did turn the war in the right direction and we will be able to leave iraq with our heads held high knowing that its up to the iraqis to do with their country as they please.

Tell that to the people Saddam used the WMD's on. Guess the UN and Democrat politicians from Clintons the Ted Kennedy also lied when they stated Iraw had WMD's

I guess that wascawy ol wabbit Bush somehow tricked Obama into hiring this guy and granting BP a waiver to drill in the gulf too

General Petraeus has been an outstanding commander. My worry is that he has been in nearly constant combat for over 7 years now. Having your boots on the ground in hostile territory is mentally and physically demanding. There is nothing else in the world to compare it to. He's also coming up quickly on 60 years of age which is ancient in the military world. i hope he doesn't burn out because fighting with one arm tied behind your back has got to be a lot more challenging.

My son only did a year (07/08) in Iraq but in that time he saw the change even out in the boonies. He just got to Afghanistan and says it's lots more scary there.
