So I have the flu and have been in bed most of the day. Well, I got up around 2pm to get a drink of water and this is what I found in my rabbit cage!

There were 5 babies born and three were alive when I walked in. Apparently the kids must've let both bunnies out to "play" and this is the outcome.

Are they even rabbits? LOL
Oh my goodness no! They're very much alive! I wouldn't post pics of dead baby animals...that'd be just wrong! They're baby mini satin bunnies. I didn't know my doe was pregnant.

I didn't mean to imply you would do something like that LOL

LOL They're doing great. I was planning on breeding my buck and doe but wasn't planning on this early and wasn't prepared. Good thing I had an empty big tupperware box. It has been turned into a nest box. When I was taking pics of them they were squirming all over the couch cushion. lol They're fur will start coming in in two days and their eyes will be open in 10. They'll be ready for their new homes in 8 weeks! Although....I may have to keep the spotted chincilla baby.

Oh you will! I'm so proud of them even if they were surprises! This particular breed of rabbit is new on the bunny market. There's only 7...wait now 8 breeders in Oklahoma. I now qualify because I have a proven pair of mini satin bunnies.

Pics of the parents??
I always thought that you should not handle new born baby bunnie. That the mommies didnt like it and would eat them,

Hey...I forgot about that...is that true? or one of those myths?

Lol.... that is a myth. My doe has let me handle them and has been taking great care of them. The breeder that I bought the buch and doe off of handles her babies as well.
The doe(mommy) is the spotted chincilla and the buck(daddy) is the solid white

They are very nice
lol....The whites are the only color recognized in the show aspect. Both are registered and tattooed for showing purposes. One day my doe may be able to show but because they're a new bunny the options are limited for the time being. The babies just got fed again and are happily napping with full tummies. Mama is cleaning again.

I read your post about how youve had the "flu" and
i didnt read very clearly then i saw the pic and i was like Oh my god! i thought that was something that "YOU" made. like you woke up and found that in your bed. a result of a new mutation of the swine flu. haha. anyways sorry to distract you just scared the crap out of me for a second.
those baby rabbits are really cool, hope they all can grow up to be healthy.

Ooo ouch! Don't make me laugh...it hurts to laugh.... I would hope that a mutation of an illness wouldn't have that type of an outcome!

That's the goal for these little ones. We'll see. It's the doe's first litter so there's a possibility that they won't make it because of her lack of experience. But so far she's taken an interest in them. She's been cleaning and feeding so keeping my fingers crossed.
