I think she's going to love her new enclosure (The "Pee-pee pad palace" lol) Not too shabby for knocking it all together today!! I really hope the babies make it and it's great she's still assist-nursing them :) You'll have to keep us updated with pics, they are way too cute. Is the all-dark one going to be black?
I do agree about the cedar being harmful tho, I've seen it cause respiratory infections & chronic lung, skin and eye disorders in many rodents and rabbits, which is a shame because it SMELLS fantastic! You would think they wouldn't still sell something known to be harmful but I guess they count on people not knowing that? The pee-pads will be great for absorbing urine right now if she doesn't toss them about and in the future I find the dried aspen is really great for absorbing the urine, and tho I haven't tried them yet I've seen that it comes in an expending pellet now too which is probably even longer lasting (and totally safe)
Good luck with the babies!! Do you have any other bunnies?

The all dark one and spotted have the possibility of being black and black and white. It also has the possibility of being a color called Chinchilla. The doe is a term called broken Chinchilla.
The cedar issue has been resolved. There will be no more cedar. I'll use what I have left for dog beds. I have a bunch of shredded paper which will be used in the slide out pan for the buck's cage atm. I'll be switching to aspen.
This isn't my first time with rabbits as far as keeping them. Raising rabbits is a new endeavor and I have been researching and calling the breeder I got the doe and buck from like crazy. This is new for me. I don't claim to know it all and appreciate the feedback. Right now these are the only two that I have other than the babies. I don't want to be a major breeder. I like to devote my time to my animals that reproduce and don't want to be overwhelmed with litters. I want to gain more experience first before expanding onto more. And knowledge. I was planning on researching breeder further before breeding my two but nature took it's course.

How long before they are edible?
When my husband gets back he'll have some edible ones. These are registered and not for consumption.

And NO I will not be contacting anyone with reptiles. These rabbits aren't for the likes of reptile enthusiasts!
These are strictly pets or show rabbits.
Yes, rabbits are prolific breeders. I understand this. Just wasn't planning on letting them be prolific this early.

Oh.... I went to go get laundry out of the dryer and my doe was in her nest box taking care of the little ones. She has claimed that pen completely. She has been aggressive to people coming close to it. Cleaning the area should be a hoot then!
But...at least she's being a good mama on the first litter.

Haha.... There's a smilie that they don't have on here that I'd like to show you!

You'll have to talk to my husband when he gets back. He's planning on getting some mixed breed bunnies for meat. Then he can show you some bunnies and all the different recipes that he has.

Just thought I'd post a few pics that I took of the babies when I did my check. They're growing and getting their coat in. Got fat little tummies from mama's milk. She's doing an excellent job of taking care of these babies. I'm so proud of my doe!

Lol Yep! They're starting to get their hair in. They're 6 days old now. 4 days til they open their eyes! I'll take new pictures then so you can see them. They spend their time in their nest box. The doe spends a lot of time outside the box and roaming....pooping....eating. Then she'll get in and feed them. The pics with the red velvet background were after they got fed.

lol Call me a little weird but I thought they were already adorable from the get go. I've raised cockatiels and...well, if you've ever seen a cockatiel baby you'll appreciate how cute these babies are compared to those babies.
I'm so glad that she's doing such a great job. We're going to be getting new hutches here asap.
