Hey guys, glad to be back. I definitely have an EMPTY fts to compare. And it sure is empty. Everything is fine now. I had another crazy scare with my SF eel. I'll talk about that in a bit. Regarding my coral - I didn't have any problems with the angels before. So fingers crossed - hopefully these angels won't bother the coral either. I don't have a ton of coral tho, so I won't be too upset if they do.
Well, enough talking... pics!...
My empty tank..

My striped dogface closeup.. kinda hard to tell, but it's growing quite a bit.

And the newbies in the QT:
The Emperor:

The Queen:

My other freak incident... So, a few days ago, I awake to my wife screaming in my son's room (also the tank room). I jump up and she says "there's a snake on the floor!". I know immediately that it's an eel. I go in to see my snow flake laying on the floor, not moving at all. I'm devastated and reach down to pick it up - and when I touch it... it moved slightly. ...a light of hope... so I put it in the tank. Its sinks at first, and then starts to move a little and then finally swims back to it's normal hiding spot. Fingers crossed. Well, it came back out last PM after hiding for 4 days - and it ate a couple shrimp! I think it's going to be fine.
To answer your question.. yes, I had the top covered well at one time, but one of the glass access panels broke when I was cleaning about a year ago and I never replaced it. Of course, there's glass there now. I won't make that mistake again!

Actually I read that snow flake eels can survive a long time without water. I read on WWM that even if you find your eel on the floor and it looks dry and not moving, it might still be alive. So always put it back in the tank, cause you never know. Glad yours is ok.

Good to know. I'm sure glad that it did move some - otherwise I may have flushed it. And it definitely was a bit dry.

Thanks. It's been 2 weeks in the QT. 4 more to go!

This thread seems vaguely familiar.
Familiar in that I'm adding the same fish again? Yeah, pretty much... repeat of prior list with a couple changes.

Maybe. I think it's mainly the photo though. Was taken at an angle and it's kinda stretched a bit.
Does the puffer look familiar? It won the photo contest for SWF.com and is now the display photo for the striped dogface.

Well, finally moved the gang to the DT! I did end up dosing prazipro once in the QT b/c the Emp showed a spot that was suspicous - healed well. Everyone is doing great tho in the DT. I'll get a couple pics up soon.

sounds good:) got any pics?
yeh i noticed that its the exact same picture as the one on SWF.com as the picture when your tank was first fully stocked:L
you got anymore plans to add anything?

Noooo. SO, just to be an example - just because you QT your fish for 6 wks before going to the DT doesn't mean you are guaranteed to not get an infections. JUST after moving everyone to the DT, the emperor showed a couple ick spots and know the queen does too!! They are doing fine - just a few spots each and they are eating great... BUT let the hypo begin. Ohhh well. At least I plumbed the tank up to the water exchange downstairs. Hypo should be much easier this time...

Wow,very true Hef. You QT for 6 weeks and then the fishes showed some spots
. Good luck on the hypo, how long are you going to do it -?

I do hypo for 4 weeks after the last spot disappears.
Inverts and LR go into the QT, which is now fishless.
And yeah, I prefer to do hypo in the 180 gal DT instead of the 55 gal QT - more stable that way. Less stressful on the fish too. And the 180 is plumbed into the water exchange system anyway. So it's actually easier overall.
hypo is so much fun

good idea.
you still got both eels?
where are they going to stay whilst there is no LR? you just going to put a load of pipework in there?

I have the PVC already in there and that's where the zebra stays. Last time I did hypo, I took out all the rock except the 3 large base rocks. The snowflake lives under that. So I'm good. They didn't mind hypo the last time.

also, when you had the lion and the puffer, how did that work out?
did the puffer attack the lion at all?
The puffer has never bothered anything at all. I'm not sure if the striped dogface is a more docile species. But it is pretty awesome. It didn't care about the lion at all.

ok cool. thats good to know, i have a lion, and love puffers. its always the fish you cant keep together that you want lol, but yeh i might try a striped dogface.
are they fast growers?

Mine has grown a bit, but doesn't seem like it's grown too fast - despite eating everything that falls in the tank. It's my first puffer, and I just got the PP Puffer, so I don't have anything to compare to. I know I've always heard PP Puffers grow super fast - and I'm sure that by the way my little one eats, it probably will.
... Well, all the LR is down in my QT now. I had to put my T5 fixture over the QT to sustain the coral. The DT looks SOO empty now. I'm looking forward to re-aquascaping everything though when I put the rock back in. I have an extra 100 lbs of rock that wasn't being used that I may add.
