Regarding the rock.. I actually only ended up moving one "base" rock to make room for the PVC. You can see above that the rock went in first initially. The 3 rocks that you see touching the sand on the left were not moved - they are still on the glass. The 4th one I did move, but I did a bit of twisting to make sure it was as deep as possible. The rest of the few on the right above the pvc are pretty much sitting on the pvc. The tonga rock isn't deep, but I'm not too worried about it. So, the rock on the left, bearing most of the structure is all on glass.

Looks really nice. I would add some more rock but thats just me.
Yeah Matt, I actually have more rock - I put it in initially, then took some back out. Reason is that I'm going for a more open tank with this - more fish swimming space... I'm definitely open to different ideas though...

Cant wait to see more fish and your eel.
Yeah, me too. My stock list changes almost everyday. But this time I'm going to have read all that I can on each fist before it enters the tank. Regarding the eel, I'm trying to find a zebra eel. I can't find one locally, so I'll probably end up getting it online. I think they're awesome.

looking good man! i wish i had a nice big tank like that!
We always end up wanting bigger, don't we? 180 is a nice size, but I kinda wish it was a 220 or larger... maybe once I have a house larger than 1100 sqft.

Well, being that the tank is going to be an aggressive tank, I talked to the mods and had the thread moved to the appropriate forum. So, an official "hello" from my thread to the forum...

I get it now

I was just scaning through thinking "i'm surprised I had yet to see this thread"...Glad its in the right forum, and it looks awesome thus far. Aquascaping looks cool, and is giving me ideas.

I agree with you on the LR, less is better for an aggressive tank IMO so they have more room to swim. I'd just put some extra rock in the sump/fuge to add additional filtration.

Thanks guys.. yeah - I'm really excited to finally start putting fish in there... but as you know.. just want to get that list down first. Won't be long though!
One thing though... I need to talk to my wife about the whole Nemo decor theme in the room. Maybe we could kinda switch it to a Bruce the shark theme...

hmmm. House, car, etc... probably over $200K in exchange for a tank? Man... the things we have to do to get our tanks...) eh, it's worth it though!

A 180 in the kids room?
i like the way you think, and I thought I was being a pioneer by putting a 40 gal in my son's room but you have gone the full nine yards, well done

House was not that high luckily called a fixer upper but still 50K then the car was 25K then all the other crap I am looking at 100K so I can spend 6K not a equal trade in my eyes. Considering I pull my hair out some weeks on the budget I still mamnage to get it done.

But it was FOR my son! He is 7 mos old and loves to look at fish... so the bigger the tank - the more/bigger fish he can look at... right?

I think you have just become my personal hero, now if you will excuse me I am going to find my tape measure and see what I can squeeze into my sons bedroom, who also likes to look at fish, I wouldn't want to deprive him, after all aren't we suppose to provide our kids with the things we did not have?

Zebra eel and striped dogface puffer are ordered!!

I've been waiting! Each time you put your email on the wishlist on SWF.com, you get an email when the item arrives. I must have done it 4 times each, because I got 4 emails for each saying they were available... yeah, ok, so maybe a little impatient on my part. But I'm glad that I was able to catch them, b/c after the order, both were unavailable, so they must have been the only ones.
I'm psyched.

that's easy - by the time he's ready for a full size bed, we will have officially outgrown our house. We'll just have to get a bigger house. But of course though, bigger house = bigger tank too!

I have a turbo twist UV sterilizer that I have not turned on yet. Should I wait until I get the extra bioload with the eel and puffer and turn it on then or start it now? Or will it really make much difference when I start it.
Those of you that have UV's - do you run them 24/7?
