I sugest you start by keeping a can of lysol and a bottle of fabreez and a few packs of gum on you . When ever a smoke comes up to you hand them the gum and them blast them with lysol and fabreez . Problem solved .
As for walking thru the cloud of smoke ? I sugest you buy some ballons , fill them with water and throw them at the door your wanting to walk in or out of . If there is one thing smokers will do its protect their death sticks from becoming wet .

i absolutely love this idea!!! i'm going to create some sort of a belt (similiar to a tool belt) and put a can of febreez on one side, water gun on the other and a pack of gum on the back...tell me that wouldn't be entertaining!!!

"Yep, wanting to be able to breathe in a public place w/o having an asthma attack really makes me a communist."
Oh please, are you telling me there is so much smoke in the air outside you can't breath? You are full of BS. There is plenty of room for all of us to live our lives. If you have problems breathing, that is not my problem. I have as much of a right to blow smoke as you do to breath. I don't like perfume, It make me ill when I smell it. Should it be banned? Get real. Don't you have any real problem to deal with.

The question why is not valid.
Why were you at a bar for two nights in a row?
Why do people eat fast food? Fried food?
Why doesnt everyone exercise like they should?
Why dont people read a book? Educate themselves?
Why doesnt everyone where their seatbelt when in a car?
The list could go on. There are many dangerous and unhealthy habits that people partake in.
I understand your point of view but lack of understanding lashing out I do not understand.
I currently do not smoke. I have in the past and I may in the future. I quit when I want but that is something I can do. I cant speak against or for anyone else because I enjoy many unhealthy things in my life.

Yeah, I should have to hold my breath b/c of a bunch of inconsiderate jerks.
Not saying all smokers are inconsiderate (they aren't) and I do think alot of them honestly don't know how bad they smell. At least you can get away from the smell, unlike the smoke. And like another poster said, some people have some serious BO problems that aren't related to smoking.

Does a skunk thinks he smells? And if so does he care? lol

these are all valid questions but the outcome of these actions affects only me whereas a smokers' smoke affects all parties around

Ru, if you had bad BO, or a booger hanging out of your nose, wouldn't you want someone to tell you? Although smokers are sensitive, I think I'm doing them a favor by telling them these things. Don't worry guys, no need to thank me right now.
the thing is that smokers already know they smell like smoke... its not your problem... its theirs...

so i can't go to a friend's favorite hang out because people will be smoking there? at this point i don't care if you smoke outside, i don't want you in the bar next to me smoking. i'm 25 years old, i shouldn't have to be confined to the bars that nobody i know goes to because someone's toxic fumes are invading my space

Like I said, not always. I was stuck in that smelly apartment because of the contract with the housing complex. People smoke and it affects people around them. To be honest, I don't understand what the difference would be between that, and say having my speakers turned up? They were bothering me quite often?

This argument is flawed. Perfume hasn't been proven to harm people with second hand effects, yet smoking has.
Lets put it this way; I'm a parent... a very protective one. I don't let anyone smoke around my son (who's turning 4 in June), and am very vocal to be sure that this continues. If anyone were to smoke around my son I'd rip their lips off (with cigarette in tow) and shove them down into their lungs. And that's putting it nicely.

unfortunatly this is all part of fredom . You feel you have the right to not smell or inhale their smoke . But in doing so you want to infringe on their freedom of smoking . but then they are imposing on your freedom to not have to breath poluted air . unfortunatly you have to coexist .
