That was from 11:30 last night.
Well I didnt wait long enough. The reading is 0.25 so I guess its off to the pet store to get more salt to do another 40% water change
I was just wondering....It took me half the day yesterday to make water with my new RO/DI unit, I have the salt in it, and it is aerating for me to use tonight.
adding sand to an existing established tank is risky at times people have wiped out their tanks doin so, u start a mini cycle which u have done already. your ammonia has spiked and u now have to continue doing water changes until u get rid of it helps the cycle go through faster when u do water changes but right about now u have no choice but to do water changes because u have livestock. just keep with the changes and get your water tested at your lfs to compare ammonia levels and trites.
Well I tested my water again and the ammonia is 0
Its weird how its doing this. Last night it was 0.25 so I did the water change. This morning it was back to 0.25 now right before I do another water change its back to 0 again.
Is it possible for it to drop in 2 hours?

If you have a LFS close by, not like Ms. Kitty there, take a sample and have them check for Ammonia and Nitrites.
I just paid $6 at Walmart for a tiny container of carbon

Can you order stuff online?
I get the 36oz of marineland carbon for $21 and it lasts so much longer then the stuff that walmart sells. I can use it on both my fresh and saltwater tank
Sometimes even local fish shops have outrageous prices on their off brand carbon.
Yeah I have an order placed, but it probably won't be here til the end of the week, and I am having a cloudy water issue...I want to put carbon in my HOT Magnum HOB filter and don't want to wait all week.....I buy the same carbon you do...LOL

Gotta love that stuff eh? I remember buying the other brand and the clerk went on and on about how much better it was then Marineland. I did not see any difference so I used that last bit of my marinland and within an hour my water was cleared up. So I took the other stuff back. She acted shocked. HA
I hate to be the guy who says told you so. BUT I told you so in your other thread when you asked if it was a good idea to change the sand.... LIve and learn i guess. LOL Give it time it should clear up. Quick question is your rock that green or your glass that dirty???
No its green. I thought it was algae awhile back when it started growing so I was trying to scrub it off and it wont come off so I figure it coraline trying to grow. It only started growing that when I added Kent coraline stuff
Did another water change and ammonia is still 0 but my water looks almost worse then this morning.
I mean seriously....after changing almost all my water in less then 24 hours you would think that it would clear up some.
I read somewhere that the haze that I see is actually the bacteria growing. Is this true?
