I couldn't do it either. I know people that would, though. And it goes both ways...I know people that would use the opportunity to blame someone else for damage that was already there. We live in a sad, sad world.

That is something the ex would do
He was so embarrassing.....he would get all red in the face...I SWEAR, by the time he was done he would make you believe you were someone else....he is a sick person

From the Damage your Describing and I asked a few Body men they had to hit a Solid Object at about 15-20 MPH to do that much damage. With the Rear Suspension messed up and the Rear Quarter Messed up Bmper and the other parts and pieces needed your loking at and Easy 8-10 Grand to fix it up easy. More than likely it will be totalled out since the Structure for the suspesion is right there.

I'm always amazed how slimey people can be when it comes to accidents. In my previous car, I was hit in a parking lot. I had backed out of my space and was putting my car in drive and BAM!!! The car hit in the driver's rear panel and it crumpled. I get out and the kid who hit me said "uh, I did not even look". The cops arrive and he changes his story. He did end up paying for it though, but it seemed to take forever. My last was a magnet for getting hit in parking lots and driveways. I think it was involved in 4-5 hit & runs, but it saved my life once (long story).

I hope everything works out with the insurance (I'm sure it will in time)!!!

I got an estimate for just the body work and it's minimum of $6000. This does not include any of the suspension damage and the body shop thinks the frame may be bent. The suspension blew out and stabbed the fuel tank, so it's really bad.

wow, sounds like the one time I rented a car, they came and picked it up, then wrecked it on the way back to their shop. I get a 1200 dollar bill 3 months later for the damage. And took me 6 months of arguing to get them to wave the fee...

How the heck did they manage to do all that damage??? Stupid people.
This is what happens when you drive a car into a brick wall, lol

The mechanic thinks that the suspension work will easily be another 2 grand. I think the car may end up getting totalled before all is said and done. Between a rental car and everything it is going to cost for them to fix the car, it's an ugly mess.
If I find out there's damage to the frame, which two shops think there is, I'm going to fight for it to be totaled. We'll see how tomorrow goes, two more estimates.

I knew someone that had that same thing happen. The minute You sign the paperwork or they move the car it's a done deal unless it's some sort of hidden damage. In this case the whole back end was caved in. She left the lot and got a call the next day. Luckily she worked for lawyers, problem solved.

Week 2 of having a rental car. Got a lawyer. They're not returning his calls, etc. I'm going car shopping tomorrow. My insurance company is willing to total my car if I pay the deductible on the policy, so that looks like the route I will be going.....

That's the route I would take too..let the insurance company go after them...it sounds like you might pay more for the lawyer than the deductable. Unbelievable.

Luckily the lawyer is a friend, a very, very good friend, so I'm not paying. He's just starting out and wants to get his feet wet. Unfortunately, if the lawyer and/or the insurance company can't get these guys, my rate WILL go up, which I just think is wrong. This is not my fault, my rate should not go up because of it. I am suing them in civil court, since the small claims limit is $5k, and I'm at far more than that. If the car gets totaled, the grand total for rental car, towing, paying off the car loan + what it's worth, they'll have to pay me about $15,000. The insurance company and the lawyer have suggested that I also sue another $3K for pain and suffering, I haven't decided whether or not I want to go that route, but I just might, especially after the last phone conversation with the parking garage ended with me in tears for 3 hours.

this is one of the things that sucks about ny...people are just jerks sometimes.

I could not have said that any better. If only my wife could look past this being her home state to see just how rotten and horrible the people are here in NY. I knew NY sucked about 7 years ago when I first moved here. I have never been treated so rudely anywhere else in my life than here in NY and I am no where near the city. I so wish i could go back to that fateful day and say,"no. i am not moving to NY." Life has been bad for me since coming here, not that it was all pringles and cheese elsewhere. I have met quite a few people who have lived elsewhere who moved here. Every single one of us agree that NY sux. Unfortunatly, I am still here and they have all moved back to the midwest.

I am sorry to hear, and see, your car. Pay the deductable, your insurance will go up, and call a lawyer soon.

If I were to leave the Tri-State area, my salary would literally be cut by 2/3. Unfortunatly, I'm stuck here. Both my family and my husband's are also all on Long Island, so we'll never move..... We just go on vacation a lot. Honstly, I don't know if I'd want my kids to get an education in many other states either, LI has some of the best public schools in the nation, and I do not believe in private school.
