You're splitting hairs Darth.  You do think eliminating 20% of the budget annually would eventually reduce it and balance it?  May take a few years, but the end results would be the same.

Hold on. I was just correcting your misinformed/guided statement that removing one of those two things would wipe out the budget defecit.
Ok, it is sunday and I am open to an explanation. Explain how removing medicare/ss from the budget would reduce the deficit from 1.3 trillion to 0. Especially since combined the total cost for those programs is not equal to the defecit cost.
And besure to take into account the lost revenue generated by those two items as we would no longer be collecting for them from the populace/businesses.

How is SS lost revenue? I thought it went into a trust fund for payment to the folks that pay in.
Let me splain it to you. Suppose you got a newspaper route when you were 8. every week you gave your parents 10.00 to put in the bank for you so you'd have money to get a car when you turn 16. Unfortunately your parents have hard times financially. Second mortgage on the house, several credit cards maxed etc. so they spent your 10 every week and put an IOU in a shoe box for you every week. You hit 16 and come looking for your money but all you have is a box of IOU's your parents, who have needed to use your 10.00 a week just to make ends meet, have promised to make good on. Welcome to the Social Security trust fund. It's nothing but government bonds and if the government is broke how are they going to make good on their promise?

Come on, there is noooo way, you can, with any intellectual integrety, say, bring W into a spending conversation, in comparison to the big 0. Hell, (much to my chagrin) even the "extreemist" teaparty, doesn't have proposed cuts, to bring our deficit back to what it was with W in office.
But hey don't take my word for it.

Want to hear something to blow you away? Every budget proposal includes the necessary tax% needed to collect from everyone to meet and balance the budget.this year's requirement is an 88% tax on EVERYONE!
