If I commit a crime, I'm doing it in California

As does everybody else. Crabbers work for 48 hours straight in freezing cold no sleep and hardly 3 meals a day. see them bitching? Nope. Oh they have alchol free cough medicine. stop bitching about that as well. I know a few guys who carry around a 60 pound generator and light that baby up with heat or ac. very simple fixes.
I don't think using Alaskan Crabbers is a good choice there crypt. Yea, they work 48 hours straight in freezing weather, but the average deckhand that's on one of those boats for just the one two month season they're out to sea in those horrid conditions makes anywhere between $30K and $50K for that outing, depending on how the fishing was. Most OTR drivers don't make that much in a year.

Cranberry an OTR driver would have to lift 900 Pieces that can weigh 50 lbs Over our heads to unload our trailers at times. try unloading 45K lbs of Copy Paper one box at a time Been there Done that. Your sore as hell when you get done. This while in a Box that is made out of Metal and you have NO ACCESS TO WATER at all. Also when it is -30 below have to install a set of Tire chains to get over a mountian pass those chains weigh 80 ponds now repeat that 8 times for a set for tractor and trailer. Now throw a 200 lb chain over a 8 ft bundle of Steel Pipes and get it over on the first try. BTW your on the ground the top of the Bundle would be at about 12 Ft and you need to throw a total length of chain of 22 feet.
Then use a binder that if it snaps loose will remove your teeth better than taking a puck from Chris Chellios hitting you with his slapshot in the mouth. Now that your worn out you have to drive 600 miles OVERNIGHT to get your load there Unload and So Sorry your in Needles CA it is 120 IN THE SHADE and you have to FRY you can not stay cool to sleep. Hopefully you do not DIE from heat Stroke.
If the Drivers tried to go on Strike the Owners of the Companies would Blacklist them on DAC USIS and the other Driver Reporting Companies to the point were we could NEVER GET ANOTHER JOB. Most of us do not do the job for the Money we do it Because WE LOVE THE JOB. Trucking is not a career it is a Lifestyle. I was a 2nd Generation Driver and if I ever get my brain fixed and can ever get my CDL back I am going to get myself right back out there I loved it that much.

Never denied it was hard work.
Again, I know the risks of strikes. Never said it was easy. Never said it wasn't risky. But if I can take the risk to fight for what I want, so can every single truck driver.
What are some greener solutions y'all have come up with to try and combat this?

We can just unload the goods at the border and let the elitist Californians haul their stuff how they see fit

I had the foresight to get out before it got so bad. I remember my mom boldly stating they meaning Californians would read by candlight before building nuke power plants. Instead they decided to buy their power from Enron

It is not reasonable to ticket a trucker who idles his rig on the side of the highway because the pass is closed by snow and wants to stay warm. On the other hand is it really that hard for a trucker to plan his route so he isn't in the position to overnight on the road in a area with a hot/cold climate?

Of course we do. You're the one's who vote for these goofball representatives that come up with all these screwy laws that only apply in California.

This is what I love about this forum. I start a thread railing California for their leniency of making their criminals serve their entire terms, and it turns into a debate about whether Big Rig drivers can run their A/C or heat while driving through the state. Hilarious how one issue leads to another around here.

BTW Reef, I have left Sacramento at 3:00 pm with no winter advisories. By the time I got to Auburn there were chain restrictions. By the time I got to Applegate the mountain was closed. Also, California would be in a world of hurt if truckers refused to deliver in California except when temperatures were between 45-85 degrees.

Y'all have a large population of trespassers in your illegal-friendly cities. I just can't imagine why the jails and hospitals could possibly be overwhelmed. All you have to do it raise the taxes of the citizens to pay for the trespassers, what's the problem?

And it's about to get even more criminal friendly. KOVA reported an estimated 50000-100000 illegals have "fled" Arizona, mostly for California where they feel "welcome". Those are the words the talking skirt used in her report. Good ol' Lupita "if it ain't from Mexico it don't matter" Murillo. Another LaRaza tool reporting nightly.

And that is what I am talking about. Not reasonable to expect someone to freeze their butt off because they got caught up in the weather but I can also see the point of why do you need to leave the truck running in the truck stop parking lot to keep cool/warm when there is a hotel accross the street.

Even if the law is overuled it has been highly effective. Wish Colorado would do the same thing. I am about to strike lowes. It's getting where you can't even friggin read the packaging there unless you know spanish. Sick and tired of supporting a business that caters to criminals
And yes Bionic, we are now talking illegals

The average trucker makes about $150-$200 a day. I think you're giving the green fascists too much ground. This is America, where is the states' constitutional authority? The air is almost 100% cleaner now than in 1970, according to CARB itself. There is no public imperative that would necessitate such a draconian measure. But as long as someone else is forced to pay 25 or 30% of their pay, I guess we can go along with it. (little bit of sarcasm there)
