Good to hear that you are recovering in a great pace.
I'm hanging in here. I would be lying if I were to tell you that I'm fantastic but I'm hanging in there. As you said, this too shall pass.
I have been however overwhelmed by so much love and support. My friends brought over some starbucks and some desserts/pastries for wife and had so many people pray for us.
I felt blessed.

In addition to the IV fluids you are getting, don't underestimate the need to push fluids via old fashion drinking water. Especially with an embolism. If you are not the type who likes to drink water, then you need to start getting into the habit of doing so. Keeping good hydration is key with this problem, and avoiding a recurrence. Myself I am a water sponge and am rarely seen without my aquafina. LOL However, a lot of womaen are not water fans I have noticed. Or milk fans for that matter which may account for the higher incidence of osteoporosis in women.
Do you take baby aspirin? That may be an alternative to taking anticoagulants when you get home. Maybe discuss with doctor at discharge.

Hi Beth,
I had a massive heart attack when I was 22...related to childbirth. The cardiologist was just here. That old scar on my heart has healed, however my heart is not the right shape. He said my problem is that my heart rate drops dangerously when I sleep. He wants me to use a CPAP machine when I sleep forever, never without it
He said it has been going on so long unnoticed that it caused the right side of my heart to bulge...creating the misshape he found.
My dog wakes me up almost every hour at home, I get angry with him thinking nothing alive needs to potty that often in the middle of the night...he won't let me sleep until I get up and let him out, lately I have been closing my bedroom door, so he leaves me alone....seems my dog has been keeping me alive for the last 7 years, without him waking me up the clots formed in my lungs because of the slow flow of blood. The nurses here have been waking me up at night the same way the dog did, because my monitor showed a dangerous sudden drop in my heart rate when I sleep. I was put on a CPAP machine last night, the alarm went off twice to wake me up..but no drop in my heart rate on the monitor.
I have been taking baby aspirin for years, and I am a big fan of constant liquids. I have a bubbler in my living room for good cold RO water whenever we want it, or good hot water for tea, another good drink for health. Until my knees went I was very active and worked hard all my life.
The cadiologist told me a CPAP machine is an easy fix...since it worked, and they will keep an eye on me to be sure. So I won't need a pacemaker installed.

That is fascinating about the dog. Pet dogs, in some circumstances, have been know to sense things like the onset of a seizure, a diabetic coma, heart attach, so don't think that what happened with your pooch was a crazy coincidence at all.
Dogs woman's best friend too! BFF!

LOL...every once in a while I let him sleep at the foot of my bed instead of the floor, LOL...He now has a permanant spot..I'm going to put a little blanket there just for his comfort and get him a nice steak when I get home. I thought he was just being a pest, how misunderstood could a critter be, and yet he still never slacked or gave up trying to tell me whatever it was he sensed. Now if I can just get him to not eat the visitors.....

If only you lived closer, I know of a dog trainer that would be able to help and solve the people eating issue.

Wow, that's really something. I'm really glad that they were able to find out the major problem that was hiding for so long.. it's really crazy... Your dog probably sensed that you were in immanent danger. Smart dog lol.

I doubt it, he is a fear biter...he knows he is big and people fear him..... but in reality he is more afraid of them and thinks he has to defend himself and his beloved people from certain death.
To the family he is a huggy bear

Then he thinks he hears something

I can command him to lay down and after a half hour or so, he relaxes and believes all is well...I learned that from the dog whisperer, but what a pain in the butt. Besides...I don't have to ever lock my doors and I always feel safe.
It's still kind of weird he knew I wasn't breathing and that's why he always woke me up. I have been yelling at the poor critter for that for all these years.

Dogs can hear things we can't even imagine. In this case, he heard the absence of you breathing, and knew that was very wrong. So he revived you. What a hero!
Did you hear about the dog that pulled alcoholic owner off the railroad tracks as the train was coming? The dog took the hit of the train, but saved the woman.

Wow, what a story! It was nice to hear something good about the breed. Atticus may know when I sound strange in my sleep...but that dog...now that's a hero!

LOL...I may be in the hospital but I managed to go shopping, I found a beautiful quilt with a sham and bedskirt on overstocked.com....Thanks to paypal it might be waiting for me by the time I get to go home. I have picked out the fish I want, but I won't order until I'm home. I hope my choices stay in stock. Shopping always cheers me up.

The doctor just came in about 10 minutes ago and said three to four more days. My daughter fed the aquaripure filters this morning....So maybe I can get the fish I want, and tell her how to acclimate them (JK)..she might be a pro by the time I get home...LOL
