Its clear that he was set up in that you had a woman who is being abused, and needs the goods to prove it. So many women do this in the fight for their and the child(ren)'s lives. Mel didn't fall into a trap where he was innocent. He fell in to a trap where he was dead guilty to begin with. His own angry, abusive mouth and the criminal behaviors he admits to got him into deep trouble, not the "trap" that was laid for him.
He is clearly disturbing and threatening, a menace to this woman and their child. I don't think we can say he is just crazy, because I don't think he is. He is a hateful bigot who is abusive to his girlfriend. He is extremely narcissistic and assumes no responsibility for his own behaviors--blaming someone else for his abusive behavior and irrational tirades.
Yea, alcohol figures in to it but there are plenty of alcoholics who don't knock their girlfriend's teeth out in front of their newborn. Also, if anyone can afford treatment, Mel can, so being a boozer is no excuse for him.
What is crazy is that this kind of domestic abuse happens all the time, but because in this case, it involves a celebrity, it gets on the news day in and day out and we get to debate weather this celebrity was set up or not.
If someone knocked your teeth out and continued to threaten your life, would you try to get the goods on them? I know I would.
