I have no detectable phosphates.. lol
th only parameter thats out of whack is niotrates. Its only 10.. which is still not even that bad..
The cyano is comming from my fuge, I have some purple slime algae growing on the cheatto.
I meant to test the water that you thaw the food in, that'll show u the nitrates ur putting in. plus like i said, phosphates arent going to be detectable because the algae is eating it up, but its there. the nitrates are still a problem i would say cause that feeds the algae too...

When I was keeping small tanks (<5 gallons), I would do an annual or semi-annual breakdown to remove all algae and detritus. I'd remove all rock, coral, and fish, and remove a lot (if not all) of the substrate. I'd scrape the glass and make it like new. I'd also clean my fuge and any to/from hardware. I'd take a new toothbrush and clean this one piece of LR that grew algae. I too would get algae in the strangest places (the ph spout, inside my unlit HOB filter). I stopped asking questions after a while; I mean, my tank and its inhabitants were all healthy, so I didn't worry about the source of the algae. It didn't get ugly until month 9 or 10, so I didn't worry too much.
Even if your parameters are perfect and you have no phates, algae can grow. It's opportunistic, and obviously it likes your tank for some reason.
If you break it down and clean it thoroughly and have the same problem inside of 6 months and coral/fish/appearance are being adversely affected, only then would I worry. If you are doing your wc's and testing, then you've done your part. I wouldn't start dosing anything in such a little tank unless you are prepared to test everyday, and at that point, I don't think it's a whole lot of fun.

ps never thaw food in anything but ro water outside of the tank. foods such as frozen raw shrimp are sprayed with a preservative that can raise phates & trates.

Everything is looking good Kat....
Are you able to wipe that stuff off the PH? It really does not look like cyano
