definately do not start adding algaecide right now. since you're having some kind of major die off, adding to it will just harm your tank more. wait for everything to get stable

Im using reef crystals..

I think my starfish has kicked the bucket. I'll give him untill tomorrow to see if hes alive still and then ill be tossing it.

Do you guys reccomend more snails? Also when I scrub the algae off the rock wont it cause more problems, since itll land somewhere ese and start to grow?(yes i know scrub then syphon)

I think its this rust like algae or bacteria thats killing th corals. The xenias arent doing too well and im starting to see a build up of the rust stuff on that rock where it wasnt before.

Before I scrub all the algae off in my tank...

I was told the algae that grows on the power heads are macroalgae and good for the tank. I have tons growing on them and always have, It almost looks like a nice thick bushy hair algae.

Should I leave it? Or should I clean it off too?

It looks like this..

This particular one is called turtle weed. (comes from the tip of the powerhead where the flow comes)

then have some growing at the side of it, and it looks like that barbers brush stuff.

Big alks said my nitrites were 20ppm though. But they also used test strips, and it could possibly be right since im seeling alot of algae growth and doesnt algae live off nitrites?

Its very possible to have zero readings and algae growing in the tank. It just means the algae is growing as fast as the nutrients are available. Just like any other time, removing the algae will remove the bound up nutrients.

Makes sence. I think I might remodel my so I can get to each rock and scrub them good. I was also thinking of taking out my CC and adding fine sand.

Whats he best way in doing this so I dont upset the natura filtration. The CC must be really seeded by now and if I remove it I think I'll have a juge ammonia spike.

Acctually im going to wait..

Going to wait for my fish in the 20g to die off then I think I'm going to make the 20g into a crazzy set up. DIY protein skimmer, use the old 10g as a refugium with mangrove ect.
