Never really liked books haha
I have a question, can I set up a 5g bucket as a qt tank? Put some LR in it I have a old hang on filter and heater also. Would I need a powerhead? Also the bucket isnt clean so everytime I have to check a fish I'd have to scoop it out and look at it. Or should I find a clear container? Also how big should it be if all I'm going to have is clowns?

Maybe I should sell my cichlids in the 20g and convert it to SW and use the 10g as a qt.................

So the guy said its not worth him selling acouple snails since there a low magin item or soemthing and If I needed a clean up crew Id have to pick from packages or spend $80 and over on them so I told him no thanks since I already have somewhat of a clean up crew and my tanks to small for 80$ in snails.

Inverts dont need light right? I was thinking of shutting off the lights for acouple days to try to starve the algae of light.
good idea or bad?
The algae is so bad that when I stick my hand in the tank then whipe it on paper towel the towel turned green. There algae floating in the water. I think its called soemthing else but I forget at the moment.

No I still havent ordered it yet, waiting for my visa to clear.
I found a dead amphipod floating around in my water today. Do I need to feed these things anything? Or let them find there own food.

I dont know just seeing what else I can put on my shopping list.
CARBON IS COMMING!! hahaha it just takes to long for my visa to clear but once its done carbon and other supplies are on there way. I'm going to put the foam around the filterbox rather than taking it out completely right away since theres the bacteria on it so it can seed my new carbon phosphate and filter floss.
Good idea?
I was also told to get a sand sifting star for the algae in the sand bed. Good idea or bad?

IDK about the star in a 10g...or what you are talking about with the foam
I do know if you have suspended algae in your water you need to change the carbon asap..and I DO think that you should at least turn your white light off...

I'm leaving all the lights off untill I can change all the fiulter media ect.
and for the foam. My filter is set up as a box(the acctual filter) inside a box(which carries the media) When I replace the carbon, and the foams pads which are already inside the box(filter media box), I'm not going to throw away the foam pads which have the benifitial bacteria on them. Instead I'll line the filtermedia box(on the outside) with those foam pads. So itll be the box(filter box itself) then the foam pads inbetween the filter media box and filter box itself. Then from bottom up (all inside the filter media box) filterfloss phosphate remover more filter floss then carbon on the top.
And by me not throwing away the foam pads, the foams pads will seed the new filter media.
complicated to explain but if you read carefully you might get a general idea.

So you never found him? Are you feeding frozen? If so, I would put a tiny tiny pinch in.....I mean like 2-3 itty bitty mysis....lol

Also before I make the order, is there anything else I might need once I'm ready for corals? Like aditives(I know you say W/C) but anything at all? marine snow, ph buffers, calcium additives ect.(I know if I dose anything I need to test first). I want to make one big order so I dont have to make tiny ones later on and get killed with shipping fees(since big als is more pricy then the site I buy off)
Oh yeah and that guy I've been talking to, apparently hes like a clownfish fanatic which is good. He has many articles in fish magazines that he showed me, specially about clownfish. Hes selling the black and white percs(full bar, missbar(I believe its called)) for around $60 each. Is this a good price?

Not that I know of...and i would only feed 1x a day
I can not tell you if that is a good price in canada....it seems to me you pay a heck of a lot more there
