So day two of the lights being off. Pointed the power head down at the sand bed, algae is pretty much gone.
No new algae growth seems to be less or maybe I just think that.

Well with the lights off it should help some....Make sure your PH is not causing a sand storm..LOL

no no sand is flying around. Its getting moved little by little but most of the current is gliding on the top of the bed not straight down in it.
The light cutdown is just a temp fix. Since when I turn them on the algae are going to start to grow again. But hopefully I'll have my supplies by then and maybe that will help even more!

hi! i saw that you are having algae problems. somebody said that an emerald crab would be too big for your tank. Well, i have a 2 mo old 10 gal tank and i put an emerald crab in it. He has been doing great! and i have like no algae anymore. he's really a pig!

Now the hard part will be finding them here.
P.s I placed the order =)
p.ss Canada sucks, look what the guy that I order off online sent me:
CFIA regulation will soon be affecting the pet food trade
Effective July 1st, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency will be changing it's regulations and will require a permit for the importation of pet foods manufactured outside of the country. This covers most pet foods including fish, reptile and bird foods.
Obtaining permits for pet foods manufactured in the US looks to be a fairly straight forward process but obtaining permits for foods manufactured outside the US will be much more difficult.
The result of all this is that we expect delays in obtaining pet foods while this process is underway and some foods manufactured outside of the US may simply not be available in the future. Price increases to cover the cost of the permits and related costs are of course inevitable.
To allow us time to work through this process and ensure that most of the popular foods that we sell continue to be available, at least in the short term, we are stocking up on several brands of foods manufactured outside the US. We are also contacting some of the US manufacturers to ensure that they are willing to work through the permit process.
Rest assured that we will work to ensure that your pet’s favourite food is still available. However, we would like to encourage you to stock up on any foods that your pets prefer, especially those that are manufactured outside of the US. Depending on demand, shortages could occur earlier than we anticipate.
