Were you thinking of joining those 2 front holes together with a single PVC "U"? Like he would crawl in the left and come out on the right?
Greg... change your hat.

if that is what you are suggesting if you look at the pic above i was going to make the two holes in the rock tunnel out to to separate pvc pipes and street Ls and not be connected to each other post #92

yes Bang i would be thankful if you took a look at the pics when you get home. the fitting on the pvc is not glued on yet are you suggesting when i attach the other piece of PVC on the rock i should tie them into each other
Hey Joe,
Any chance you can find two nice rocks? If not, the other opening doesn't have to be pretty and it doesn't have to be visible from the front. Are you going to bury the PVC with sand?

lol I don't mean to hijack, I'm actually writing my own thread now. I bought my first mantis yesterday! =D I love being the youngest in my reef club and one of the only people who "dare" embark on that journey. lol
So I'm worried about my heater light. Should I be worried? I'll pick up an unbreakable this weekend, but what would happen if he broke it?! ><
Can't wait to see your tank finished. I used LS from my sump and 15 lbs of LR from my boyfriends tank with no obvious spike, so I got the mantis in in a day. He was hanging in a breeders net in the reef until I was comfortable with putting him in the new tank, but man is he cool. Can't wait to see yours! =O

Im interested in seeing how this all works out. I was thinking about getting a peacock a few months ago before I had some family issues get in the way.
Anywho, your tank's looking great. Ive heard to be advised against getting a fully grown peacock, as they only may have a few weeks or months to live?
Either way, I will deffinately be following along. How deep is your sandbed?
Oh..btw everyone. **** Edited ****

I dont think this is true. my sand bed is currently 3 1/2 inches it will be deeper in areas where i bury the PVC as i will be adding more sand to those areas

I actually have no idea how long they live. Funny I've never looked into that. Our peacock lived 4 years until he was killed by pesticides on our new gardeners first visit. O.O He was sitting on our fireplace mantle waiting for his new tank to cycle... right by the open patio door.

These animals are VERY VERY sensitive to chemicals. . Also fly spray, waxing a floor or if you forget to wash your hands and they have, hair gel, skin crème whatever can kill them

Yup... we were a "scent-free" home.
I was thinking WHAT IF you had a mantis problem in your tank. You could in theory take out the rock put it in a container set a cup of floor wax next to it cover both with the same piece of cloth and you could again in theory kill the mantis
