Lessons from a newly wed

Even though I am not married yet, I have dated the same girl for three years and she has lived with me for two. She helps out with the bills, food, etc. Smart - going to school to become a pediatrician.
My only fuss with her is that well, - she gets very mad if she doesn't get her way with food. What she craves - she gets. I don't care what I eat or when I eat it, but when she gets hungry and craves something, she doesn't take no for an answer.

Wish us luck!
Congrats man!

Does anyone else feel like only yesterday we hit the year 2000? Can you believe we're approaching 2010 already??? Hard to believe.

Well, as far as the fish tank goes, my husband really doesn't have much to do with it. He was the one that wanted the tank to begin with. But we got it and then he told me it was up to me to mess with it. All he really does is feed them occasionally when I'm extremely busy. But that doesn't happen very often. So the tank is pretty much my deal. Now he's talking about setting up a 55gal!!!
lol It'll be another project for me.
He just likes looking at them. But, it's a good thing that I'm the one taking care of them. He's gone a lot. He's in the Army.
He has his sweet moments but he has a lot of issues too. Talking to a military man with issues is hard to do. You have to be careful what you say and how you say it with him. It's like walking on eggshells but still opening up about things. Kinda crazy. I'm hoping it'll get better.

...ever try couple's counseling? an objective mediator is often very helpful... and it sounds like ur genuinely interested in improving things - worth a shot!

You'll understand in 10 years

I'm ten years farther down the road, and yes both me and her both think oprah and Dr. Phil suck. Besides who has time to watch em when we are busy playing and working? You know what, besides football, baseball and nascar tv sucks. (except for the wall show that is funny.)

Oh come on! We all know you are a closet-I-love-Dr-Phil guy

I have TV on all the time when I'm working in the evening.

How do you explain to your wife that although she is most definitely more important than football, she shouldn't talk to me while the cowboys are playing. Unless you want to discuss the game.
I thought that this had already been signed to law in the lower 48...

Use this approach. You're austin. She's Austin's son.... the game is on....

In time, your "Looking-like-your-listening-when-really-your-not" skills will mature and you won't have to worry about such things. You'll be able to fully enjoy the game while appeasing your wife at the same time.

One of the things that really used to work with me is if my hubby gave me a foot rub when he was watching. It made me feel happy like he still cared and he got to watch the game in relative silence while I relaxed.......pretty nice.

I was going to ask you for an update :)
Have you asked her to keep track of her bobby pins? It should be her *job* to do that and not yours.
