whats eggcrate and will it effect the hood/canopy or anything?
is it visible when viewing the tank?
i will be buying them when they are about as thick as a sharpie
-is that too smal... will they get through the eggcrate?

it is white with square holes, you might be able to get them that small but you will have to get the eggcrate with smaller holes. As long as you have a hood you cant see it. It wont affect the hood, light still gets all the way through to your tank. It is actually better than using glass tops-it allows for better gas exchange!

I had one, I won't get one again. I got bit...OUCH! I was working in the tank and I forgot where he was, and I forgot I had an open cut and when it started to sting I tried to pull my arm out real fast and he must have sensed it and I got nailed.
