That is one of the things that worries me about having a peacock, but our lighting isn't too strong (130W PC's) so I think she should be ok hopefully.

So I thought I would update since it has been a while. Monty is doing great, it looks as though he may be growing his other appendage back. I didn't see him for a few days, and when I saw him today, it looks like he has his other appendage, just slightly smaller than his left one, but an appendage none the less. I was very happy to see this. He is getting a little more adventurous and will go (very quickly) from home to home (he has like 4
) while I am watching him. It's very interesting, he won't be poking his head out of his main home, but when I come up to the tank to take a peak, he pokes his little head out.
Now for Gingi, she has had a bit of a cyano outbreak in her tank (I am sure it has to do with the snail graveyard that is her tank), hence the reason why I haven't posted new pics
. Justin and I did a full sweep of the tank and scrubbed the live rock rubble and cleaned up the sand. I had to laugh because he was tweezering rocks out to scrub, and I was just sticking my hand in taking mats off the sand and taking the rubble out. I am ok with putting my hand in there as long as she keeps her distance.
Well, I was removing some more cyano today with the tweezers, and it was a good thing I didn't have my hand in there because she is super fiesty today. I had the tweezers in there and she swam over and latched onto the end and started smacking it
So I continued tweezering once I got her off and she would go away for a second and come right back. As I am sure you can tell, I wasn't getting much done. I would wait until she left, and I noticed her hiding in some xenia watching me...she was hunting my hand and tweezers!!! Little devil.
I proceeded to use the magnet cleaner to clean off some of the glass and she swam after that. Then she went to the rock I had been cleaning, and started to dig at the rock, fling cyano everywhere, and smack the rock incesently. So I thought she might be hungry, and got her a piece of krill. I wiggled it around a bit and she latched onto the krill like it was her last meal. She started to crawl up the tweezers a little bit, at which point I decided it was a good time to get her off the tweezers, but she wouldn't get off!!! I gently wiggled the tweezers around and even tried to pull them out of the water, but she came right with them (just her head since I decided that wasn't a good idea either). Finally she got off, but man, she is so incredibly fiesty today, I have never seen her that way.

I can almost hear a scream and a slam in the background when Gingi flyes our of the tank and hits the wall.

That will teach you not to stick your hand in the tank

Cyano is a never ending battle for me. There is so much waste from the carnage!!!!
It would help if I was more faithful with my water changes.......

Do you have long tongs to grab stuff from the tank? I've seen those in a few catalog and they look very handy.

Yeah, they are really long metal tweezers. They are very handy, especially on her fiesty days

No joke at all, Justin thought it was pretty funny when I told him the story, and then he put the tweezers in the tank...wasn't laughing anymore...

Hey guys, sorry it's been so long since I have updated. Everything has kind of gone to the wayside since my mom passed away on March 11th. It's been really tough, and haven't really felt like doing much of any of my normal activities, even coming on here which I used to do religiously. The tanks are doing fine as well as the inhabitants of them. I think Gingi is getting set to molt here pretty soon, and I will have updates soon

I read this whole thread, it's so awesome! I can't believe how big Gingi is. I used to work at the Shedd Aquarium when I lived in Chicago, and one of our Peacocks actually broke one of our aquarist's thumbs! They are so strong.
Okay, so I watched that emerald crab vs. peacock video (which made me nauseous) but what makes that clicking noise? Is it from its claws or whatever? And do you put your hand in the tank??
