I bought the base rock and live rock from my LFS. Other than transporting from the store to my house it was in water. They had it in a big plastic pond type of thing.

Is it going away...or turning white???

For examle, this picture below is one that I took when I first received the LF. Now the Coraline circled in yellow is turning the color of what is circled in red.

I was trying to read some on coraline, cause I'm not sure....what is your lighting?
I just read that lighting changes can cause coraline to die-off, but it should grow back....also flow plays an important role with coraline growth.

Well since I'm limited on lighting right now with my hood, I have two Coralife 20w 50/50 bulbs.

I'm kinda hoping someone else chimes in....LOL...
because the tank is new, and cycling, and because the rock is now under diffrerent lighting, I can only GUESS that has something to do with it...I think..in time...it will start to come back....

I really appreciate the help you have given me. I agree with what you are saying. I was just reading some posts about Coraline, and it appears to come and go quite a bit. And having a new tank I'm sure is affecting it.

Alright, so I have my latest parameters:
pH - 8.2
Ammonia - 0.25
Nitrite - 1.0
Nitrate - 20
Things don't really seem to be going down as of yet. Granted, I have only had my LR in my tank since Friday! lol. I know it can take awhile.
So after mentioning my Coraline "disappearing" I decided to take a couple pictures tonight. You can see where the Coraline previously was on the closeup shot of the one base rock. It looks green now... It is still showing on the two pieces of Fiji rock though. Also I pushed my base rock down to the frame of the tank like suggested. I had to move my rock around a tad, not sure if I like it!
I also moved my powerhead down so that it's focused more on the rock, which I was told this may help the Coraline growth. Opinions on the placement PLEASE! Thanks. Enjoy the pics (I know there isn't much to look at though!)

Coraline is just like any other algea. It'll boom and bust. Right now since your tank is cycling I'm not surprised that it is dying off. It can't take the trates and trites.
Also you can speed things along by doing weekly 50% water changes if you can. I don't know why people leave the toxic water in there during the cycle.
The beneficial bacteria is mostly in the rocks and sand, so don't worry about taking anything out of the water column.
Water changes = ALWAYS GOOD!!!!!

By taking 50% of the water out won't mess up the cycling process?

Coralline will bleach for different reasons but the most common is it being subjected to air and light at the same time, and it need only be for a very shot period of time. It will color back up as your tank stabilizes. No worries here.

Nope, only help. The bacteria is a living thing too and can't survive with the toxic levels of ammonia and nitrites (or trates I can't remember).
So in essence you are helping the denitrifying bacteria keep up with the nitrite.

So I went and purchased about another 20 lbs. of dry base rock from another LFS near by. This rock IMO is really awesome looking! I love all the crevasses in the rock. I hope my LR seeds this base rock soon. Im ready for fish!
Tested my params. again. Still not ready.....
My pH went down some. I think this cycle is doing some weird stuff or is this normal? This probably is a really stupid question but would my new base rock change the pH at all?
Temp - 79
Salinity - 1.027
pH - 7.8
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0.25
Nitrate - 5.0
Opinions on the new base rock, and placement would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Matt

Looks great! That base rock has some great shape.
My pH is consistently at 7.8. I use a buffer to bring it up but if you stick with a weekly water change schedule it'll get up there. Do you mix your own saltwater?
