Looks great! That base rock has some great shape.
My pH is consistently at 7.8. I use a buffer to bring it up but if you stick with a weekly water change schedule it'll get up there. Do you mix your own saltwater?
Thanks for the compliment. I think that base rock is really cool! I did mix my own saltwater. Don't get mad, but before I found out about R/O water, I had already filled my tank up with tap water. I know there's a lot of debate about that. I have conditioned the water though.
I know numerous beginners ask this question, but what would be the best combination of CUC for my tank, giving the layout and all?

LOL...I think it's funny that anyone would think that someone else would get "mad" at a choice they make for their own aquarium....I did not begin with an ro/di system...I have one now though...It is in your own best interest to get one eventually...
As far as cuc...start off with a few nassarius snails, cerith snails, maybe a couple of astrea snails....That's just my opinion...you will get others...

I started my tank with tap. I figure since it has to cycle the extra crap doesn't matter.
When buying your salt make sure it has something in it to stabilize pH.
For CUC it depends on your tank's bio-load.
I'd start with 5 small nassarius, 5 cerith, 5 trochus. And then you can add more when needed.

Thanks for the advice you all!
Once I add my CUC, when can I start to add my fish/inverts etc? Are my water params going to spike at all with the CUC?

not if you take everything slowly..add the first cuc...test wait a week...add a few more...etc...then add a fish
Do you know what fish you want yet?

Probably start out with a pair of Clowns. I also really like the Yellow Watchman Goby, Firefish, and the Mandarin Dragonet. Not sure if I can get away with them yet. Still doing research.

Probably not the dragonet...they need LOTS of pods to survive, and smaller new tanks can't handle their needs

Ahh bummer! Well one day I will add one to my family!! They are really awesome looking. A lot of color. Any other fish you recommend?

Do you have a lid? Firefish can jump...I had one that did.
Jawfish are neat fish....I also like yellow clown gobies....I also like the rusty goby....Of course I could go on...but what do you like...LOL

Almost all of the goby family can go in your tank. I like the clown gobies too but I think the yellow watchman is my favorite goby.
I have a royal gramma in my 29 and he is great. Awesome colors. The tailspot blenny is my all time favorite nano fish. Lots of personality, very cute, and he'll eat some of your algae too.
The six line is another good one. There are some horror stories of them getting aggressive but if you add them last they are a great fish. They'll eat some parasites and flatworms.
There are a lot of options, my advice is find the one fish you can't live without then stock around that one (or two).

Tailspot Blenny's are really cool lookin! I really like clowns just because they are so cool to watch. Same with the goby's. I cannot wait to start adding fish! I'm just really inpatient right now. I stare at my tank and LR hoping I will find some random hitchhiker.
I actually have about three "really" small snails that hitchhiked on my LR. I mean they are super small. Probably the size of a large grain of salt lol. Anyone know what these are? Will they grow larger?

I do have a lid so my firefish will not be going anywhere! It's crazy how those Jawfish hold their eggs in their mouth. Kinda weird lookin!

I have a rusty goby and a pearly jawfish in my 29g so far...as far as fish go...I am wanting to add a midas blennie (if they ever come back into stock)
I was thinking 2 black/white clowns too...IDK anymore
I also have an emerald crab, 3 scarlet hermits, 2 halloween hermits, 1 peppermint shrimp, 1 coral banded shrimp...and miscellaneous snails
1 frogspawn, and one kenya tree...I just ordered an orange plate that I think i am going to put in this tank instead of the 225g

Question for you all,
Is it a good idea to rinse your Filter Cartridge regularly? Like once a week? I have been doing this because it appears to get pretty nasty fast. Also what about the Bio-Wheel?
Will this mess up the cycle at all by cleaning it to much?

To be honest I'd toss both the cartridge and biowheel. Anything that holds/collects gunk from the tank causes problems down the line.
If you don't mind cleaning it then it's not a problem. You'd be better off by getting a bag of carbon/chemi pure/purigen and/or making some sort of fuge.
What filter do you have?

i dont know about your eclipse but mine came with the filter kinda built into the hood. i would toss that and get a nicer hob filter and put some cheato in that sucker and a little mini fuge light.
