Danny is going to switch some wires around on the Potentiometer today. And needs to test the power coming from the 10v power supply so we know which one is actually the positive wire. So hopefully we should know something here today if it's going to work.
Reef: The dimmable version of these particular drivers don't have built in voltage or current adjustments on or in the driver itself. Everything has to be done with whatever dimming controls you're using and by calculating the right amount of leds and strings to use so that you end up with just the right amount of maximum current.
Here is something that I don't get. Even assuming the pot is wired wrong, it shouldn't cause a fuse in the LED string to blow should it? I mean if it's designed to run at 100% of the driver's current I would think even shorting out the control voltage shouldn't cause a surge on the output side, Theoretically of course :)
Gawd I used to live for these weird problems when I still fixed equipment for a living LOL!

UPDATE:
Over the course of the last week, Corey discovered that The HLG Meanwell driver was upgraded in August and they kept the same exact part #. I was supposed to of gotten the NEW version...BUT come to find out... I DID NOT.....THIS is why we have been having blown fuses and all the UNEXPLAINED issues
after a few phone calls to Mean Well and the supplier...FINALLY today they agreed to take back the 2 I have and are sending me the REAL new ones (WE HOPE)
SOOOOO BY this weekend, we should be back on track YAYYYYY

They make ONE LITTLE change and you complain....
Glad you figured it out.
BAHAHHAHAHAH...It was a BIG change....LOL....do you know how many fuses we have blown....and how freakin frustrating this was...NO ONE could figure out why none of our stuff was working
IF Corey had not started a thread on "that other site" we may still not have ever figured it out....LOL

Yeah, good times, good times. Let it be known to anyone who is considering purchasing the HLG drivers. There are two versions of the same model number in regaurds to the ones with the three way dimming capabilities. The old one's are not 10v or pwm compatible. And the only way to know for sure if you have one of the older ones vs the newer ones is by the serial number on the driver.
On a side note, Meanwell has some new smaller drivers with the same 3 way dimming capabilities of the HLG's called their LPF line up. They're basically an upgrade to the ELN's for smaller builds. They have built in pfc (power factor correction), 3 way dimming and a 91% efficiency rating.

I remember Robert back in July saying about a change, but I thought it had more to do with the efficiency of the drivers.....

I was following it over there. Had to be something crazy like that. Made no sense it would run lower power but pop fuses full out.

Any updates on building the housing Meowzer????? Hopefully when you guys had the acrylic cut you had them cut a bit longer??? It makes gluing and squaring your corners easier.....I had mentioned way back in the early planning stages, to leave a bit of over hang on both ends and square things up and glue, and then after everything is glued and solid Danny can come back with a flush trim router bit, and cut everything flush, and then to really clean up the edges he can take a small round over bit, and ease the edges....I do recommend easing the edges afterwards, due to the acrylic squared edges can be rather sharp.......I was totally surprised how many little cuts I had when I finish gluing up my tank......

NOPE...have not done a thing.....he works Mon- Thurs....then he is off for a couple of weeks....mainly for hunting purposes, BUT I am sure in the afternoons or early evening he will work on the light....the drivers will be here Tuesday (I hope) he also wants to make a good table for putting the acrylic together
He just told me he sized the pieces prettty exact :( SO we have NO ROOM for era ....

Any table that is fairly level, or any area that is level will work......It just makes life easier keeping everything square.

YEAH....He doesn't want to use the plastic tables....they are only 5' He said he has 2 old doors he might put together to use.....Not sure yet
I don't like using my plastic table either for whatever reason when gluing......
The old doors will work just fine....Set them up on saw horses.......
