Hey meowzer, are you going to make an itemized list of everything you are buying, that would be awesome, I am really thinking of going this route as well.

one thing that I like about both diy and also leds is that you can have a broad spectrum of various colors as the quoted post proves. As seen, the complete light installation will have a mixture of royal blue, blue, and both cool and warm whites...

I guess it just hit me, I thought you were going with 50 royal blue and 25 blue, not the other way around.
Also, not sure I would go with the warm whites, I'd go with neutrals. The warms are gonna make the tank look way to yellow.

Ok I have a maintenance question. We have all these wires goig to the LED is it possible to have a connection in the wire that could be split in order to remove the LED's and the heat sink = in other words they would be separatable to do mainenance on the tank. Just thinking out loud.

Yes, you could use just about any style of quick disconnect that you want. The idea that I'll probably go with on my build is that my drivers and dimming controls will be mounted in one of my side cabinets on the canopy. The actual fixture itself will be mounted on top of the canopy. I will bundle all of the wires running to the fixture in one cable and incorporate a quick disconnect. That way if I need to take the fixture down I simply unplug it and pull it down.
You could do something similar. Like in Meowzers case she's using 6 separate heatsinks, she could encorporate some type of quick disconnect on the wires that jump from one heatsink to the next they way one could easily be separated and removed. But she wouldn't be able to run the fixture until it was fixed and replaced.
