Today matters more than yesterday, yesterday wasnt must win, today is a MUST win. Schill..... 7 shutout innings against angels is pretty good i think! Dice-k has been a little shaky this postseason but hopfully he will turn it around in game 7
And who doesnt love manny? every1 wants him on his team. AND HE GOT ROBBED OF THAT HOMERUN! instead go the longest single in playoff history (still RBI)
Maybe is he didn't just stop on 1st he could have had a double...

both of u got it wrong!
it was a homerun and you know it!
he wasnt running because he was doing a HOMERUN trot on a HOMERUN! HR not single
and nice catch sizemore..... he stopped then ran full speed to TRY to make an amazing diving catch, not so much

Most homerun trots don't stop at first base... Unless I am missing something. As far as whether it was a home run, the reply certainly seemed to indicate it wasn't, but that isn't my call.
I missed Sizemore's non catch so I cannot comment on that.

I'm a Red Sox fan, and I have to admit, they got the call right....
As much as I wanted it to be, it was NOT a HR.

Manny's homerun trot does!
he swings, drops bat, stands there admiring the HR, sticks his hands up, they slowly trots the bases! thats they way to do it! GO MANNY!
U have to see sizemore catch, they even said, they slowed down and tried to make a dramatic diving catch, once again, not so much

if you are talking about the play where gutierrez was also coming in, the ball was tailing away from grady, and he looked up and realized that gutierrez wasn't going to catch it, so made an attempt.
it was one that gutierrez should've caught.
doesn't matter, we are only going to score 1 run today.
fans see what they want to see quite often.
anyway, no surprise about this game. with beckett pitching, didn't expect to win today. too bad it isn't the boston becketts, you'd have another title. gonna have to win 2 in a row without beckett. may be a tall order.
cc is proving me right, unfortunately. i've always said he was over-rated. unfortunately for the sox, carmona and westbrook are under-rated. the indians have cc as the ace, but our ace has been carmona all season.
gonna be tough though with the potentially obnoxious fans in boston (this is a reference to the jaret wright days). remember how they got to him with the constant jaret-jaret-jaret chant. good fans though. should be interesting. if carmona has his good stuff, it is over though.

Well then I have to like his homerun trot since it made it only a single. Not that it would matter to the game I suppose.

That is the thing that drives me nuts about manny, he isn't a gamer, he is a very talented player, but he isn't a gamer, he should have run that out. Whether it was 40 rows back or it scapes the back of the wall you run. You put your head down and let the ball you just creamed do you talking. It is how you play the game, after that hr trot on tuesday, he would have had a ball in his ear his next time up if it was me.

eric wedge calls this respecting the game. not that we could afford him, but even if we could, i don't think wedge would tolerate him on our team. he got rid of milton bradley (and others) for much the same reason. there's one thing that is for sure, and that is at the end of the season the indians will be able to hold their heads high because they respect the game. even beckett was disappointing with his screaming after getting lofton to pop up.
this game used to police itself, but now they can't retaliate for bad behavior without being tossed out of the game and a suspension.

I respect a lot of Boston fans, but in this case you're making it very difficult Joe. Your loyalty to the Sox is admirable, but your lack of reality isn't. Grady was not trying to make a dramatic catch. As wbrad said, the ball was tailing away from him, AND it should have been gutierrez's ball. Both where goin towards eachother and grady slowed a bit so they wouldn't collide. To indicate that he was "showing off" is pure iggnorance.
All that being said, he should have caught the ball..

I agree with you about respect for the game. There is WAY too much showing off in baseball today....
As for Beckett, I don't have a problem with the scream.... When you are all pumped up in a situation like that and get the result you want... that can be a natural reaction.
Lofton then escalated the situation by yelling "F..... You" all the way down 1st base line.

i don't agree with lofton screaming back either, but the last people who should be starting anything in the american league is the pitcher, since he never has to stand in the batter's box.
that's one thing that i like about the national league.
but beckett's scream wasn't a natural reaction either. he hates lofton and was purposely showing him up.

I had no problem with beckett, anyone who drops his bat down right there thinking it was ball four deserves as little jawing. First of all, because it wasn't even close to being a ball. (moron) or trying to sell it to the ump. (chicken for not wanting to hit) I had no problem with that little altercation. Lofton got a little to wound up about it, but hey that makes this game fun.
I loved roger tossing the bat at piazza. It shows how into the game they are when they instincively grab a shattered bat and toss it at someone.
I love it when they show people up, and just destroy them. Beckett did that.

Anyone that has played competative baseball knows that it is a natural reaction for a pitcher to yell "UP" when a ball is popped up. Becket did just that, granted he did stare down Lofton when doing so (instead of turning and pointing to the ball like most do)....

I didn't really catch what conspired between Lofton and Beckett other than they were speaking loudly to each other and a bunch of people came onto the field. From what the commentators said it sounded like Beckett started it. Of course you cannot always believe what the commentators say so who knows. In the end nothing came of it, although I suppose if they got into a brawl Beckett and Lofton might have been tossed and the Indians might have been able to finish off the series last night instead of tomorrow.
