God I hate it when I see a tank that's better than mine!! Looks like I'll have to upgrade my 125 to a 200 or so. This hobby is so ADDICTIVE it's insane! There is not one true reefer that would disagree with me! I started out with a 29, then a 40 show, then a 55, and then a 125 and holdin' steady. After seeing Dogstar's and others, it's time to upgrade. I PROMISED my WIFE I would stop with the 125. Looks like in addition to buying a 200, I'll also be purchasing some new diamond earings! :nervous:

Dogstar - I like the looks of your fuge. I've got a question. I'm setting up a 125 inwall with a 55 sump/fuge. This will be my first sump/fuge. Do I need to add the ls/lr to the fuge section of the sump before the water goes in, as the water goes in, or can I add it after the water is in the tank and sump? Thanks.

After water, Run and check water levels, leaks, flow in case you have to change something and once thats good, shut off pumps and then put in sand, best if its wet (should rinse it out good if its new unles its live sand from a bag, you know, store bought ) Then wait a while for cloud to settle and then turn on pumps. You will still get some clouding but it will clear up. Are you useing stuff from your other tanks for the 125g? If so then it should already be LIVE and there should not be much ammonia ect. If its all new and you have to do the typical new tank cycle then go ahead and do it the same way also. Good Luck and Congrats On the 125.

You mentioned needing to have the MHs at least 12 inches. I am just setting up a 200 with 4 MH but the hood leaves the lights only about 4 inches from the water. It is real hot, and we are putting in a sump fan, as well as for the hood/ and maybe eventually a chiller. Is there any problem with having them that close other than the heat? THanks for any opinion.

reeflaw Yea, I think so. With a 200g you will probly have somewhat bigger fish that can splash water pretty good and that can cause the lamps to pop. Also will cause the water to evaperate much quicker. Also in IMO you will get a bright glare coming thru the water like sun thru a cloud look. I dont know if you know what I mean but I dont like that look in a tank. Are the bulbs exsposed or is there a glass lens between them and water? that will help with spashing to the hot bulb but then you have to clean the glass alot because of dry salt and its not good to put glass overover most or all of a tank because toxic gasses have to be elowed to exscape. Best if you can make like a skirt to match the hood to holed it higher. Imo you should have 1 fan per MH bulb in the hood and vents w/ some air filter for air to flow thru. good luck and dont fall in.

fishcrazy,
hey man
I made my own moon lights.( DIY ) I have 6 led lamps across my tank and they are the bright blue kind.
I think there is a DIY thread about how to make them. It only took an hour and the lamps and resistors and wire was only like $ 15. I already had the transformer from a moonlight I bought and stoped working. That cost me $ 40 and only worked a year and only 1 bulb. What a rip. %&*#!!

Your tank is simply beautiful. If you get any haters telling you yer tank is overstocked...We should all be so lucky to have such healthy looking fish. I hope to be on the level you are some day. Very impressive tank!

Hey Dogstar,
Did you have some instructions for the DIY moon lights or did you think it up yourself? If you got it from a link I'd be very appreciative if you'd post it.
Your tank is gorgeous. I have a 75 that I'm starting up again after losing everything in the hurricanes in Sept. I can only hope that mine will look half as good. Since I'm starting fresh I'm going to go with a refugium this time and build a new hood. I have 50/50's right now but I want to add some MH so I can keep more corals. Thanks for the link if you've got it.
BTW, what part of South FL? Im in WPB.

Fishy, if that link works, lots of goodies. I made a set of 4 and a set of 6 and trying to find a way to time them to simulate full to new moon. I live in the Oakland Park area in Broward

I loved that long kung fu gif you posted. Like to see a fencing one with swords. Anyway Im sorry to say I killed the wrasse. The night I caught it I floated it in a float box the neck afternoon it die. The LFS was not open on that day and I screwed up. Just my bad luck and the wrasses too.

RIP Hoggy
