there are a couple that lean against the back glass, (just to help support such a tall stack of rocks) but i try not to let them touch the glass as much as possible to help water flow.

it will show some such as pink coralline, but for the most part i think it helps camoflage algae build up much better than a blue background.

its really nice! its one of those Discover books, like theyll have desert, rainforest, reef, etc. so its kind of like a coffee table book like with lots of great photography and a little paragraph on each page. its not a reefkeeping book, so none of the usual water chem info etc, just kind of cool to flip through.
PD- havent watched the DVD yet, probably will tomorrow

got this book a few months back, i really like it, this is more of the "everything you need to know about a reef" type of book. some of the photography is really bad, but good info. only confusing thing about it is it doesnt use the common names for fish / inverts, so if you want to look up something specific, you pretty much have to compare pictures and scientific names.

I've been going back and forth trying to decide on whether or not to purchase that book.
I have looked at it a few times, and you're right, I hate that everything uses scientific names..
It's very knowledgable, however..
