the first 3-5 gallons the unit makes cleans out all the chemicals and "food grade preservatives" (according to the website) that are in the filters and coating the acrylic, plus whatever is in the nylon tubing, etc.

supposedly it can make 100 gallons per day, but i havent had it running long enough to know exactly what to expect from it. my DI isnt completely full yet (site says it can take up to 14 days) but i think you get more of a consistent flow once its all broken in.

the max gal per day depends mainly on your household water pressure. A friend of mine across town had to get an extra adapter to help build up his psi. My psi was quite enough - my rodi makes a significant constant stream even while wasting about 75%.

Tank looks great! Have you ever been to Phishys in Columbus? They've got a lot of nice stuff and is one of the best stores in the state.

Yea. I'm an hour and half from them but it's well worth the trip. Great prices and selection too. Let me know what you get.

nice corals! Although you're sun coral doesn't look to healthy, but I see that its showing signs of opening which is good.
I had one that never opened and sadly didn't make it.
you know how to feed the SC right?
looking forward for pic's when they both open up

Nice RO/DI unit there, congrats! I just picked one up today with a gift card for my LFS. It sure does beat lugging the empty jugs over to the Walmart to fill up on simply RO water. I'm looking forward to seeing that hair algea and cyano just wash away.
