is there a way you could just seal it off so no air reaches the motor? i sorry i still don't see the tube, but if you seal it off then no air would reach the motor and there should be no bubbles.

in the last pic where the clear tube comes in to the filter on the right of the pic, at the bottom of that clear tube where the tube goes into the blk motor. there is a little blk tube sticking out of the motor to the left into the filter itself. that is the tube i am refering to im not sure what to do with it.

well if no air is going through, it should just push water out. Does it push water out if no air tube is connected?

it should just push water out. if there is no tube connected to it, it shouldn't produce bubbles and you should be fine. Have you given it a test run yet to see how it runs?

im sry to ask such a stupid question..but if i feel i dont.. ill never understand this stuff!
yes..im a newb to this stuff.. i recently bought a 55gal setup off someone locally and i have a filter for my tank that looks very similar to the ones in ur pics.. buutt it has small LR in it (no light shinning on it) and then filter pad in the front (and the rocks kinda hold it in place up against the wall). Other then that + a Skimmer and a blower i was told i don't really need anything else. So my question is.. What is the point of this? What are you trying to get out of it and what benefits are coming from it?

i personally did so i can put cheato in it to consume phosphates and other extra nutrients. also its a safe place for my pods to breed. Also its extra filtration. this goes the same for everybody for there refugiums. there great from what i see from other tanks. P.S. by blower do you mean powerhead?

yeah as long as water is covering them so no air gets in. your water level will be high enough that you wont have to worry bout it.

so what happens if you don't have any of these green plants growing? vs if you do for instance less water changes? just cleaner water? why is having extra nutrients bad? r there certain fish that eat those plants (reason for growing it)? and for as for the "pods" i got tones of those lil things running all over my rocks and corals, so having them helps? or r u breeding them bcuz something in ur tank eats them?

ROCK,
MAN WHAT A FISH! SHE DOESN'T BOTHER A SOUL ONLY WHEN SHE HAS TO SHOW HER SIZE AND BLACK DOTS. A VERY PEACFUL AND COOL FISH. SHE HIDES IN THE SAND AT NIGHT TO SLEEP. DURING THE DAY YOU CAN SEE HER MOST OF THE TIME AND THEN HITS THE BED WHEN ITS LIGHTS OUT.
Thanks,
Triggs

you don't have to have these plants. having these helps cut back in algea growth in your tank by useing up the phosphates and extra nutrients. i still do the same amount of water changes even before i had it. i am sure there are some fish that will eat these plants not certain tho. i no the lettuce nudibranch eats the stuff that i have in my refugium right now, sea lettuce. yes haveing helps. they eat algea and helps feed your fish. i wont to get another spotted mandarin in the next couple of months. my other was killed by my Powerhead.

That has cleared up A LOT. Thank you soooo much.
do shrimp eat these pods?? there are soo many in my tank..its crazy if u look at the rocks its as if there homes to tones of lil bugs. what happens when they breed and overflow ur filter do they just go into ur tank or how would u scoop em out to feed ur fish? How does one die from a powerhead though? sry about ur loss! :/
