Any reason that you have it in a cup? Chaeto should have decent flow going through it, unless you know something I don't, which is entirely possible by the way

There are a bunch of 1/4" size holes all over the cup..
Also would u suggest upgrading my stock pump to something else, or maybe get another korilia 1?

At least get the k1, then if you still feel you need more flow then upgrade the return as well

will do....
Also, here are my parameters for the day:
Temp- 79 (steady for about 3 days)
SG- 1.024 (steady for about 7 days)
PH- 8.2 (steady for about 5 days)
Ammonia- 0 (steady for about 4 days)
Nitrite- 0 (steady for about 4 days)
Nitrate- 20 (been that for 4 days) Once i add my CUC will they help this?
Calcium- 420 (1st time i checked)

Numbers look just about perfect
Nitrates are a tad high, but once the cuc is in there it should help limit the amount of nutrients. Also once your refugium starts kicking into high gear it will also help. It just takes a little while for the chaeto to take off.

Mine took off after about a month or so, now I gotta keep pruning it
It is cool though, when I put my hand back there and pull it out, pods go flying everywhere. I think I should keep a mandarin back there
j/k.

well maybe mine just moved in the cup a bit... Speakin of the chaeto, do you think i should keep it in the cup or remove it? it is gettin good flow in there. I thought it would help it from gettin in my pump by bein in a cup..
Also saw that nissian had his in a cup

I don't have mine in a cup
It does however get clumped in my return every couple of days, but just takes a minute or so to clean it out. Mine is just in the 2nd chamber above a few pounds of live rock rubble. Along with a 10 watt submersible light shoved into the middle of it.

i will try it outside the cup for a day or so and see what kind of mess it makes, if any..

Yeah the good thing about chaeto is it will not invade your dt if it should get in there. Unlike calupera or others that root themselves into the rock, chaeto just floats around, I love it.
I smell a page 4 happy dance coming, lol.

i asked nissan this same question, but im curious to know how you plan on having your back filtration setup so i can mimic it in my own. I would like to know the placement of items.
The water flows in from the top, pass the surface skimmer, down through chaeto, then crushed live rock below it? is that correct? do you have filter floss or a sponge? im sort of confused of where these things are suppose to be placed. any help to clarify how you are doing it will be a big help!

i think my filter area is a bit diff then what your gettin.
I got it where it goes through the top and the water flows over to the next compartment to the right where i have some Cemipure Elite, then above that i got my cup with LR rubble and my chaeto then above that i got my Small LED light..Also removed all sponges, bio balls, carbon, and caramic ring bags
If your goin to use the cup method make sure you put plenty of holes in the cup for waterflow for the chaeto
Well Night NANO'ERS im off to bed!! hate 3rd shifts
