it is common for most people of european decent (white) to claim either one of the two. That is if you are from the european decent.

The Native American side of the family is my mom's. She doesn't remember her last name, though. She died only 3 days after my mom was born and my grandpa remarried...and my mom didn't even know that until she was 16. I'm going to see if I can find out though, becuase now I am interested. :D

Well my grand father was 100% cherokee (dads side) and my grandmothers mom (greatgrandmother) was raped by a member of the cheyann tribe (sorry for spelling) resulting in my grandmom, so i have a good bit of pure americas in me and i am fairly proud of that. its funny i have yellowish skin year round some what tan in the winter. i have had people come to me numerous times and ask if i had cherokee in me and thier responce is that it shows in my facial structure mainly my cheek bones pretty wierd huh. woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo. lol

I am part cherokee and part Euchi. I have black hair, dark skin and dark eyes. My favorite question is "What are you?" or " where are you from?" LOL!!!

Great Grandma from Mom's side was 100%. Small tribe from New York area. Details are not well known. Iroquois? I also have some characteristic traits, very tan but with a distinct red tone in the summer. It has been on my list for a long time to find out more.

the skin thing can and cannot play a part. for example red skin, a myth. Indians do not have red skin. Some of northern indians are a lighter color. New York, yes could be any of the 6 nations. There are a few others

Ya, I wasn't trying to 'type, but that is the only physical trait that I could attribute. Mom and bro' have more (facial structure). I'm aware that not all Native Americans share the same physical traits. I am very proud of my heritage and a little ashamed that I don't know more about it.

try to at leat find out a last name, a first and last would be great! Someone has to have something. The usually by a last name we can get an idea of the tribe. Then call the tribal offices with th name and try to fond some info. We can go from there. Discover who you are, do not let it go. Yawa^ko
