Good luck with the build.
I just wanted to comment about the pistol/sexy shrimp compatibility. As long as the sexy shrimps have an LPS like a torch or an anemone, more than likely the pistol will leave them be.
I have a pistol/yasha goby combo in my 14G. I actually have two pistols and they leave each other alone. They also leave my Fire Shrimp alone and two feeder shrimp (ghost shrimp) that were left over after feeding coral in my 155 and I just thought they looked cool in this tank. They could easily kill the ghost shrimp or each other and just don't. I feel that as long as they're fed, you can really cut down on them hunting. I will be putting in a sexy shrimp (or 3) very soon.

Ok thanks for the tip. I know I won't have an anemone, but a torch is a possibility. (It sounded like sexy's can benifit from having a torch, frogspawn or anem for their mucus from what I was reading). Thanks for the interest!

Did a 1 gallon water change today, here's the count;
SG: 1.025
PH: 8.0
DkH: around 8.4
Ammonia: 0.0
Nitrite: 0.0
I buffered the Alkalinity which should raise the pH a bit. But the levels are at the bottom for acceptable levels so I think it should be ok to buy some livestock.

Well I need more rockwork, so I think I'm going to look for a mid size piece acan. Probably something with red in it.
I CANNOT find cerith snails anywhere in Orange County, so I'm going to have to order some from SWF, how have peoples experiences been that live in apartments? I've always been afraid of ordering and not being home when it gets here. In the meantime I'll just grab a few astrea's I suppose, since Turbos are way too huge.
Otherwise I need to put in orders at the LFS for the sexies and pom poms. I think I can call the guy monday for that and get em tuesday. Should I get a fish yet, or wait on the rest of my inverts?

I think you should start with some cuc first....you can get 1 turbo...I have 1 in my 29G...I don;t live in an apartment ...lol...but I have my stuff delivered to where I work

well I do have two nass snails and 3 hermits that I got last weekend when my diatom started. But yeah, I gotta round it out with some more snails.

Ok, so I went to 3 different stores and here's what I got :)




Oh yeah so these guys are currently in my 24, because they were stuck together, but I'm going to stick the smaller one in my pico tank.

and for the full tank shot

There's also a pom pom crab somewhere in there, but I can't find him at the moment for his close up.
Anyways, yay its started! Also found some acans I wanna get, but didn't want an ugly frag square in the tank, so I'm going to wait till I find one on a small piece of nice live rock.

Ok, so I had a 10K 18W JBJ PC on my freshwater tank, and it just got a boost. So that means the pico gets the nicer lighting. The old fixture goes back to being the back up lighting. Anywhooo, here's the shots.



The reflectors on these are way better, the only thing is its not blue and white bulbs. Is that an issue? cause I can always mount both fixtures.

Ok, I'm going to let myself buy one nice piece of coral for this tank a week. Today I got myself a green acan colony with 5 heads. Here's the pictures :)



Oh yeah, and here's the red one I would like to get next week, its a bit more pricey though.

yay, I love being able to buy more corals. Especially since this tank doesn't have two anemoones to worry about like my nano, I can get all the expensive ones I've been eyeing!

I think the colors are great...
I am the WRONG person to ask what to get next.....LOL...I am the most indecisive person ... you should see me when I am looking for myself...it takes days, and I change my mind constantly

I honsetly know what you mean. The store from those pictures has thousands of corals to choose from. I think there's a total of maybe 9 4'x8'x1' grated tanks with just about everything. Sometimes they'll be like oh don't worry I'll be there ina second, and I respond with oh don't worry I'm not going anywhere for a while!
So, it looks like I'm maxed out on green! Didn't even realize it was that blatant, but they're really nice green colors!

Spent the weekend moving my gf into a new apartment for her. She's now got her own place, so I may be setting up another pico tope for her. Probably a tiny FOWLR though instead of a reef; in the mean time here's an upgrade on this guy.
Got another Acan colony, the one I saw last week; and also got another sexy shrimp.





I was also interested if anyone knew anything about these macro algae; particularly the one thats BRIGHT orange


Wondering what to get next week. Let me know whatcha think!
