there should be some coraline algae on live rock you get. get a razer blade and chip it into your tank, making sure you have enough calcium

PH 7.8
Ammonia 0.25
Nitrite 1.0
Nitrate 20
Today i tested my levels 10-27-08
PH 8.2 i added a buffer in lastnight to get it up from 7.8
Ammonia is 0
Nitrite 1.0
Nitrate 20
My tank has be running for 12 days now. How do these readings look. Is the cycle almost over or does it still need some time.

Yes i got the live rock yesterday, i got another 10lbs and placed it in the tank, it looks full now. I have it speard out through the tank but i dont know if i should leave it like that or stack it up high. I will post some pics of it in a little bit. Let me know what u guys think i should do. Also i got a nice big piece of LR with coralline algae, and there is some type of plants on it.
P.S i also found that affter i put the LR in the tank there must of been a really small starfish on the rocks, it is so small u have to look close to see. It is Black and white, has this ever happened to anyone before. I am going to take some pictures now.

With the addition of new live rock you will probably see some more ammonia spike. Just be aware of this and do your testing. Normally best to add all live rock and sand at the same time to get the cycle going and ending at the same time but you will be okay. Don't rush let nature work here.
