Nova Extreme X2 T5HO Fixtures
•Energy efficient, new generation T5HighOutput bulbs
•Full spectrum lighting for coral growth
•Low heat production, electronic ballast
•Marine or Freshwater versions available
•Single Lamp Reflectors
•Bulbs included
These low profile lights utilize the latest T5HO lighting to maximize light output and minimize energy consumption. These lights incorporate a highly efficient polished reflectors and an acrylic lens cover to protect the bulbs from water splash. The black aluminum housing is a sleek 2" tall and 5¼” wide and does not require a cooling fan allowing for silent operation

Thanks

Those are a good brand. However you would need 2 of the 36in fixtures to be powerful enough. The 24 in would not guarantee you could keep anything. Even with 2. Additionally neither of those would fit very well over your 30in tank. Now the 24in ones might have legs that would allow it to, but I don't know exactly. Using two of these would allow you to use actinics in one and daylights ion the other for a dusk to dawn and daylight effect. Adding Leds for a moonlight effect if desired. However the Clamp on MH would give a shimmer in the water that T5's wont. They do make a 4 and six bulb version that i cant say anything bad about. Either of those in the 36in cataegory or the 24in in the 6 bulb category will get you where you want to be nicely. If they'll fit?

Two nanos would gert you to 16 times turn over. Not to bad, but I run around 45 times turnover on my 135. And it could use more. The K 1's would get you a little more flow and be better I suppose. This would get you to 26 X much better.

did you already buy the K-2? be careful with the K-2's, i went through 3 of them..I came home to a broken K-2 in my tank. luckily it was off.
k-2's have a plastic clamp with 2 turn screws for tightening. IMO and in my experience, that plastic clamp is not strong enough to hold up a metal halide fixture..the aqualight clamp on light that competes with the K2 was a pretty good investment for me, but i really wanted actinic lights..
def, def invest in a sump/fuge!
where are you from? check out other forums for classified hardware sales.. get a 30 inch sunpod. a member on another forum was selling one for 150 shipped. It was 6 months old? i forgot..one man's trash is another man's treasure!

We are reffering to the koralias...I have no idea what you are reffering to.
The Koralia 2's may be a bit too much for the 30. The Koralia 1's would be a fine choice I believe.

I realize you already have some kind of light. What exactly is it? Post a pic if not sure. It's likely that adding the clamp on MH and then modifying the existing light with the LED's for moonlight, then just changing the bulb to an actinic blue would do the job. Of course many people do not run dusk to dawn effects, Or moonlights. However doing this can greatly increase you viewing time and viewing pleasure. As m,any corals pear much more attractive under different colors of light. Google the above two items to see what I'm thinking. This is likely a very good option for you. And the cost is not too bad. Does the 30 have a canopy or open top? Should have asked that first.

wait so you did talk about the K-2 clamp ons?

Live Rock is nicer and has live stuff on it

base is rock that is less desireable that a lot of people use on the bottom to build up their live rock...I think it becomes live rock eventually, but it usually not as pretty or as good quality
