newbie about to buy zoas

Well, I want my first corals to be zoas.. I like the way they look, and ive been told they're the best beginner coral to start off with. i wanted to get everyone's opinion on what my parameters should be, and what i should be monitoring for zoas. can this guideline be generalized for all soft corals?
my tanks a 10 gallon, 4 weeks old
ammonia: 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 5-10, ph:ranges 7.9-8.2, sg:1.025, temp:79F and a maxijet 600 (160gpd).
I have no checked calcium as ive read that is of no importance. please correct me if im wrong. and your inputs as well, thanks in advance

My first coral was Dragon Eye zoos and my tank was similar to yours. Just be sure that they get some good lighting.

excellent, thanks.. ive got 40 watts of the 'screw in bulbs' -- coralife 50/50's... a lot of people are kinda against this type of lighting, but ive seen tanks thrive with it... anyways, thanks for the response

Calcium isn't too important for zoas, although it should certainly be within the acceptable range. Alkalinity on the other hand can be extremely important, I recommend that you test for it.

gh = ?; what is gh?
ro/di is "gauranted" for nothing; filters wear out or plug up - NEVER take anything for granted in this hobby.
im sorry i dunno why i gave u my gh -- general hardness.. I've been measuring both gh and kh cause everyone keeps tellin me to do both before i do anything... kh is 1 or 2.. .altho i have not measured it from teh aquarium, but the actual water source itself.... ill do that now for sure

You should be in good shape. As stated, I would get a cheap frag/colony to start with, see how it does, and go from there.

Zoos are cheap, about 10 for a small piece. go get one and see how it does in the tank. LOL
I was gonna do that actually.. lol.. the lfs here only has 'fixed' prices for the corals... 40 bucks! thats my only choice.. but im gonna do that, and 'see what happens'

well, you ought to be able to get a nice little colony for 40 bucks depending on what kind of zoas they have.

so here it is -- the zoas were all closed up and in an hour or so opened up like that.. 40 bucks.... -- no name, if there's any pro's here, let me know if there's a specific name.. i got the chunkier looking one seein that they were all a flat price... only problem is it doesnt look that great on my live rock.. i cant get a fts yet cause my camera isn't the greatest, and the daylight in the room is making all sorts of reflections lol.. this was the best i could do for now:
