I have it on random....it goes between reef crest and lagoonal.....I have it powered on high...BUT it goes high-------low----to high randomly haha
I used feed mode for the first time this morning....it was very easy too....lol....and it slowed down..and stayed that way for 10 minutes....then went back to it's regular setting...things are doing well, so I have not played with any otehr settings yet
MOST IMPORTANT thing is the positioning....YOU MUST make sure the wet side and motor are aligned.....and BELIEVE ME you will know if they are not...LOL...sounds like an airplane....otherwise mine is virtually silent

Most people have them on random or Reef Crest. The Wave Mode is cool, but I've been told that it can weaken a panel of your tank if it's exposed to the wave motion for a long period of time.
I plan on getting an MP10 to run with both of my MP40's, this way I can run the Nutrient Transport Mode.

doing some more looking seems some are selling the mp40 with the upgrede from mp20 for $25 less than the newer version.i think i will just go with the new version for just another $50 for two.

Definitely go with the new version, not the upgrade. I don't think EcoTech is giving a warranty to the upgraded models.
The difference in the controller is whether it is wireless or not. They look identical, but I don't believe the controllers can work together unless they're wireless. For a while I had one wireless older model and one wireless new model, and they would do the same modes and speak to each other that way, but I couldn't make them master and slave. Almost all of the ones available now are the new style, so it's just a difference in wireless or not. I needed the wireless for sure because I plan on a third unit, an MP10 to run Nutrient Export Mode. You don't absolutely have to have wireless, but it's nice.

LOL....they are not hard to hook up...just make sure they are properly aligned.....and the book for a quick set up is ok
for anything else go to the online manual they reference.....much more detailed on the settings

I run 2 small fans on each side on my 225G....BUT I also keep a window unit in the fish room....this room gets much hotter then the rest...I do not have it on yet though
my 225G is running at 80 right now
