OK...Update...the clam is attached...lol...I did not pull at it, but I gently tried to lift it....just to be sure
It is also more purple
I fed it today some Phytogreen-S with a little Selcon using my little contraption made by a diagram from Cranberry, and a model by Sharkbait09
Attachment 229453
My next question is. How often should I feed it?

I'd be nervous spot feeding a clam -- espcially like that. Too much food isn't a good thing IMO to a clam where it's gills can get clogged.
But good luck!

Do you have any suggestions? I would like all opinions and I also would appreciate any help too.

A couple times a week just slowly turkey baste some in the general area. I used to do that to my small maxima -- but I haven't done that for like oh.. a year and a half and he's been fine. Hasn't grown much... maybe 1/2" - 3/4" in 2 years? (can't remember my years anymore).
Honestly I scrape my glass daily and I've heard from several local veteran reefers they feel thats enough additional food for their clams. My derasa has grown at least an inch in the last year but he was also 5 inches to start verses 1 1/2 - 2" on my maxima. My crocea is hard to tell because his mantle covers his shell all the time :)
If you can culture your own Iso? (I don't know the full name of the culture -- but it's like a brown/yellow of the cultures) that's one of the best clam foods. A local guy grew his derasa from about 3 inches to around 7 inches in about 6 months with a lot of feedings of that culture (if I have it right).
I've seen the clam in another tank as he redid his... they stopped feeding it and its probably close to 2 inches larger than mine as the growth dropped off but still growing.
If you want your clam to grow faster --- feed it but I personally wouldn't spot feed it. I would just make sure some food gets into the general area via current a couple times a week. Even a small clam will get most (not all) of it's food via light source. I haven't fed my maxima in ages.. and I doubt its pushing 3" yet and it's a beautiful purple. It was also shaded by a plating coral for a long time and developed light spots on it from getting it originally under PC lighting... but that has finally all cleared up about 2 years later :(
Sorry if I'm rambling but Finding Nemo just came on at work so I have something to watch!
:D

as jackri said, I wouldn't necessarily spot feed it, but just put some phyto in the general are or just in the tank in general. If they get fed too much directly, its gills can become clogged and it can die. The current of the tank should be enough to get the food to it. Can't wait to see some more pics! *hint* =]

GRRRRR...I just saw the clam tipped over...I know it was attached earlier today. There is nothing in this tank that would bother it....

They jump if they don't like where they are either.
Right now my maxima is happy on the bottom on the sand bed

So what do you do? How do you know that's what's happening? Do you keep putting it back?

I just leave mine there in case I want to move him some day.
Before that I put him on a rock by my very small frag of purple tipped plating coral... and you've seen what that's done in about a year... and started shading him to where he jumped, and I really really tried to pull him off nicely as part of his mantle was fading. Before that he was on the sand.
I'm not sure what you want to do about it I guess? You can keep trying to put him where you want and he made take a foot hold.
