When treating a tank with Para-guard do you need to turn off a UV?

I had to use the control everytime because the shades of blue are so vague I needed to see exactly what it was suppose to look like everytime. consequently after one treatment and all the controls I have plenty of copper test that I cant accurately read without buying another kit for the control.
Para guard is a broad range medication designed to supposedly treat parasites, fungal, bacterial and viral infections. I simply like to call it snake oil with the exception of profilactic dip for newly aquired fish. I've used and keep both these at all times. Para guard dip (at a strengh much stronger than would be used for any long term treatment) and luck is what I use instead of proper QTing.
I agree that Cupramine is, by far, the best way to treat ich. I use it in QT on almost all new fish.Funny, my test kit experience is just the opposite--SeaChem is the one kit I can read very well.
I also agree on the para-guard. Anything that claims to cure everything won't cure anything; IMO. This is a kind of "throw it at the wall and see what sticks" approach. But, fish can be impossible to diagnose and just maybe one of these "catch all" products may work. It sure would be my med of last resort, however.
