Wow I really love your set up! What is the green plant in the container sticking to the side of the glass?

its called cheatomaphora (we call it cheato) algae and its a good place to grow copepods and other little critters, as well as to reduce nitrate

If you look closely at the pic, the pods are already congregating...haha
It also makes for a pretty sweet hitching place when hunting for pods...

I've got just a couple more pics of the chaeto pockets that I've added. I'm thinking that they'll be very beneficial in this seahorse system.

Yoy would need to choose your seahorse species first. Research feeding needs to be sure the species fits your lifestyle.
Smaller horses, Zulus, dwarfs, pygmies (NOT good starter experiences) require live food which can be a full time, messy job. They can live in a ten gallon tank. The additional note is that keeping the water quality is on the nano-tank level and also not for the inexperienced keeper.
Medium horses, kuda, reidi, erectus can reach lengths of 8 inches, or so. They should not be kept in less that a 30 gallon tank. At maximum I would say only two seahorses in that size tank, with seahorses that can (and SHOULD!) reach that size.

I also see the feather caulerpa in the planter/fuge. That is a great idea.
Beautiful seahorses!

WOW!!! I love your tank set up Lisa. Those little plastic cups with macro algae are awesome, and make great hitching posts too!!! Kinda like one of those old outdoor A&W park and eat resturants. "I'll have 2 orders of pods and a side of mysis please".

Thanks a lot Poniegirl. I read about this idea quite a while back on another thread here, except the writer talked about using soap dishes for the fuge pockets. The "pockets" that I've got are from WalMart and were actually in with the some shower accessories. They were only about $1.50 a piece and already had the handy suction cup attached. I think they'll work out, and I don't find them to be too intrusive appearing.

Well, as long as you said "please"...

Thanks Ryk.

Even if they seemed intrusive in appearance now (which I don't think they are) soon they will be nothing but pod havens and attractive greenery! Very nice..think I'll head for the dollar store!

Me too!
I think they make much more sense than my "shield" idea. They would be 110% more easy to clean(if needed).

My thoughts exactly...well, 'cept for tthe dollar store thing, but on the other hand...(dang...the little thinking guy icon is gone too!)
I also think that before too long the pockets will become coated with coraline, which would be pretty nice as well.

I know a great shop where I can get a couple of sexy shrimp, but I can't keep them in my reef because of Scampi (coral banded shrimp)...would the sexies work with my seahorses? I mean...well, will they work compatibility-wise?

Mini-update.
I needed to place my yellow gorgonian from my reef to my seahorse tank sooner than I thought...danged hermit crabs...
I haven't seen the polyps out on that coral in weeks and I was worried about it. I put it into the seahorse tank yesterday, and not only are the polyps coming out with a vengeance and it's actually looking fuzzy again, but Appache has also adopted it as her hitching station...pictures when I can get them...really sweet...

AWESOME!! Gorgonians are so easy to keep, but they don't like to be poked or bumped. Look forward to pics

They also apparently don't take a shining to having hermits crawling all over them. I think my gorg's going to do great in the sh tank...and it looks really nice.
