Oh well just the rocks are in there...lol...hhhhmmmmm...purple rocks...lol
that's the plan... pink and purple in 2 weeks.. then add a small CUC (I'm sure I'll get diatoms on the sand bed by then.) Wait a week... add some softies at the bottom of the tank..
I think I'm only gonna rely on 4 astreas, 4 ceriths, and 4 smaller nassarius snails when I add the cuc.

I guess I really upped the calcium probably dangerously too fast, but no sensitive inhabitants to kill off.
That sounds so similar to what my chemistry students have said after ignoring my directions (written and verbal). I didn't realize it would do that...
Mean while the experiment is merrily foaming all over the counter and floor.

Loving the look of the tank so far.
Can't wait to see stocked.

LOL... but I have no teacher to yell at me in my apartment...
... that does remind me of the time we were trying to isolate elements with centrifuging and adding this and that.. and there were times when I didn't know if I had something poisonous like mercury or something safe so I'd walk to the professor and ask him "does this look like this color or this color.. I'm having trouble picking if its toxic or safe.." "Shoulda read the instructions and been more careful.." He knew which elements/compounds were the answers to each lab lol so if I was in doubt, I'd say I am doing such and such lab and walk to the sink acting like I was going to dispose of it there.. if he freaked out, I knew it was toxic and picked that from the now narrowed list LOL.. It's a good SICK way to get hints at possible answer choices...

That is too funny. I wish I would have thought of that way back when when I was a student. I had more fun getting the ****s back who went around messing up your side mirrors by coating them with silver nitrate. They would freak out later in the day when the had dark brown/ black palms!!! Would probably get into serious trouble nowadays if I did that, but it was a great solution at the time.

The side mirrors on your car?? What exactly were they doing to your mirrors? I know in my child vandalism days, side mirrors were not a priority to me lol.

Yeah the side mirrors. Fellow students from high school, you know that whole click stuff. If you got good grades, even if you played sports you were a geek, so you where fair game (well until it backfired)

I got my nitrate spike lol, ammonia zero, nitrites zero... getting the beginnings of brown slime on the turf screen and I've got a diatom bloom in my tank..
I'm gonna let it subside mostly on its on before I toss in any CUC stuff (I'll probably do this in a week)..
I should be getting coralline growth here pretty quickly..
HAHAHA I guess I must be the new testament God because I got my bloom on the 6th day (filled it on the 1st)... and so in playing along with this tradition I'll be resting on the 7th aka getting wasted and passing out ROFL....

nope..
I used about 7lbs of established livesand (store bought lol) and added about 3lbs of caribsea aragonite out of the bag... mixed it together.. added some water above it... let it circulate.. finished my plumbing.. added the rock thats been "cooking" in a rubbermaid for awhile.. filled it up.. let it run..
I've been running my turf scrubber light 24/7 except for 6 hours of this span of time where I thought it would help to turn it off to drop temps.. but I turned it back on and left it... temps have been fine since..
I'll get it on a 18hours on/6 hours off schedule once the screen fills in...
No cheating here.. I did grab some coralline rubble out of a tank at the LFS and strategically placed it to spread coralline quicky..
my water is all new too.. I could have changed water over from my 20long.. but I didn't.. laziness..

Just tossed in 1 tongan fighting conch (they didn't have anymore ceriths), 4 bigger nassarius, 4 astreas, 2 black nerites, 1 small mexican turbo.
