Red Sea Max or Solana?

I absolutely love my RSM and had the option of getting a Solana. If I want to go *top off* with the RSM I'll just remove the hood and put a clip-on 175 W MH on it. I did add a Tunze 6025 for flow.

I would go with the Solana, I have the 34 gal and I LOVE IT, its by far the best tank I have owned. the back of the tank is clear so you can see whats going on with the pump, skimmer everything. The only down side I have SO far is I am having a bit of a problem with micro bubbles I cant tell they are they unless I take a picture.
thats my tank if you would like to check it out.

I bought it from my LFS, I was able to buy only the tank and not the whole set, If I had to get the stand and lighting fixer I would not of bought it. I think the whole thing was like 900.00 or something but I just got the tank for 150-200, some where in there lol.

I think my next tank will be a solana. My lfs sells them for 389. for just the tank and stand, and then give 20% off any lights. Seems like a reasonable deal to me.

Very reasonable; I found just the tank on Aloha Aquariums for 292 or about that. Just a little under 300

I went to my LFS today and they had a Solana and the Red Sea Max side by side. I have to say; I wasn't impressed with the Solana. I had only seen pics of it and the red sea looked sooo much better put together. The Solana looked fragile. I know everyone says the Solana has the better skimmer but, now I'm so not sure.

It's not fragile, but don't plan on throwing a basketball at your aquarium lol. It's got the modern look.
I'll refrain from throwing things at it. The LFS guy really put this tank down. He didn't like ANYTHING about it. He was pushing the RSM. He did say he'd sell me just the tank for 292......

he was pushing the rsm because it was probably more expensive..
remember on the rsm: the stock PRISM skimmer sucks, the lights suck, runs hot, etc.
modding the lights on the RSM to fit in the stock hood runs over $400...
This is my 15gallon, similar to a solana. The water is just starting to clear. Thats a 150w MH over it. The water comes within a half inch of the surface. Mine does have a sump though...
