Republican Candidates

The only thing that Huckabee has going for him is the backing he received from Chuck Norris and Rick Flair in the media, Those are two nice people to have your back in a fight, but not an election.

rac·ism
NOUN:
The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
So because they acknowledge the fact that they are an African people that makes them racist? I see no claim in that creed saying that because they are an African people that they are better then anyone else or any discrimination of any other race.

Not really going to dabble in this, since I'm not familiar with that particular "church" but if I pointed out someone was black, I'd get in trouble...

I really do not want to get into this but when I see someone accuse a person or an organization of being racist I feel they should be ready to back up their claim.
Personally I think it is rather strange how many people only focus on Obama's heritage and then get upset that he appears to embrace it.

Unfortunately, Obama's race and Hillary's gender will be an issue when we get to the actual presidential election. As sad as it is for this country, many people still don't think anyone black, or even a woman, should hold the 'highest office in this land'. Why do you think Hillary did her little 'crying stint' yesterday that's been broadcast on every news feed? I personally could care less. I'm looking for the right qualifications, and whether their campaign promises align with what programs I'm interested in getting taken care of at the federal level. But you still have the fanatics out there that would NEVER vote for either of these people because of their race and gender.

I wonder what would happen if I walked into that church...

It boils down to, there is no way that the public would let this get passed. and I think Fred's fear is quite real, what is to stop them from restarting an income tax? You'd need a constitutional ammendment, (highly unlikely). And between the class envy so commonly played my the democrats and the media, I don't see that ever happening.

Exactly... this would also reduce the amount of $ the gov't brings in, thus creating a larger defecit. Who supports the "Fair Tax" ?

Huckabee
Thompson - hasn't opposed or denied ..calls his version a national retail tax
Paul
McCain
Hunter
Romney says he would investigate impact--- hasn't opposed or denied
Guliani would vote against it.
This "Fair Tax" would also have a negative effect on charities just as it would with our local,State, and Federal Gov't.
What would happen to all the people who would get laid off?

You know, all you really hear about is Clinton and Obama...
As everyone probably remembers here, I'm a die-hard Dem...
And the sad thing is... I don't like either of these people!
...and you never hear about the Repubs that are running...

I agree with you here... the church statement is not racist in anyway. Obama embraces both aspects of his heritage. He gives a lot of credit to his mother and grandparents whom are white americans in shaping his life. He also understands what it is to be black because that is what group people would associate him as because of his appearance.

As Jerhunter said... You would be welcomed and treated as everyone else. I go to predominatly black church... but we have have caucasians, hispanics and asians that attend and ones that participate in ministry. Because of the history and majority of the church he does address things that concerns the black community in particular... but also includes everyone of all races.
If you had the opportunity I would wish for you to go so you could see for yourself. So if you are ever in the Chicago area... check it out....I'm sure you'd be suprised.

Unfourtanately the fanactics are not the majority, which gives these two candidates a great shot...to whom ever gets the nomination. Then if you back a nom with a great VP... Repubs are done. And if you look at the GOP nominees tax plan.... it is very liberal.

lol, I've been to "black churches" it can be prety funny, some of the looks you get. But they especially the baptists cook real good. That is how I judge the quality of the church by the meal afterwards. hehe. There is this one church in huntsville called and I'm serious, mount zion baptist church, it looks like something out of a movie cookie cutter stereotypes (not all stereotypes are bad). and they have a big BBQ place next to it that the church runs. It is alot of fun to go to. I enjoy it.
Seriously though, As a whole not there shouldn't be "black" or "white" churches, it is just wrong, looking at it through a biblical perspective.

I agree that churches should not be for any one race but generally churches reflect the community they exist in.
As far as funny looks it goes both ways I am sure.
I know when I visited a Hindu temple I knew I stood out but I was still accepted.

Black churches exist in part because blacks were not allowed to worship with whites. Second churches usually associate ethnically or by demographic reasons across the board. But lets not get into some sort of racial debate. I would bet that church is at least 80 years old. And the churches you've been to sound traditional... But we do like to eat after church. Mount Zion is a very common name...you'll find them in every city in America where there is a black population.
FYI- this is what the name means:
Zion is an archaic term that originally referred to a specific mountain near Jerusalem (Mount Zion), on which stood a Jebusite fortress of the same name that was conquered by David. "Zion" became applied to the section of Jerusalem where the fortress stood, and after Solomon's Temple was built there, it came to refer to the temple grounds and the temple itself. Today "Zion" is often used metaphorically, to symbolize Jerusalem and the Promised Land to come, in which God dwells among his chosen people.

I was just joking about judging a church by the food.

yea maybe they, however this would be a big impact on the economy and employement rate day 2 after the "fair tax" went into effect. Then think about donations to charity and non-profits....
