My opinions?
I think that life in prison should have been the penalty. Yes, I'm aware he butchered his own people and whatnot, but what's the punishment in death? I'd rather someone live out the rest of their lives almost miserably.
For the Bible thumpers out there, all I can say is that 'an eye for an eye' is old testament.
As a Christian, we should be more kind to EVERYONE. I kind of felt sorry for the guy... But hey, I'm soft hearted, what can I say?

So, do you feel sorry for the innocent people he killed?

He had been sentenced to life in prision before but when his party came to power in Iraq they released him and he became president. In my opinion the reason we went back into Iraq was to have a another friendly country boarding Iran. Look at a map we have troops in Iraq and Afganistan. What countrty is between them (Iran). If the world does not stop them from enriching Uranium millions of Jews will die again. This is just my opinion. Hope everybody had a good Christmas and a happy new year. :cheer:

Well I am sorry for the spelling, but you can still get the gist of what my statements are. I am retired military, and lost a son in Iraq, and yet I still say we should nbever have been there in the firstplace on the whim of one president and a few of his suporters. I am a republican and voted for GWB. I also served many tours in the desert during Desert Storm and after along the border in northern and southern watch. Plain and simple we had no proof nor any business there. But its typical amaerican fashion....we do not value anything long term and everything has a price......other countries friendship included. Just do a google seach and see how many innocent citizens were killed in Dufar (sp?) today, or in Somalia, or in Chetchen replublic, or Georgia. No........., we have no business getting our troops killed for personal vendettas of the Bush / Republican party.

Why can't we expedite death in our own country the way it was done with saddam. I'm a big fan of the death penalty and don't understand why we have people on death row that our tax dollars are paying for when we could save so much damn money by a sentence then hanged in a week. Instead of sentenced, supported by tax payers, then electricuted in ten years. :notsure:

I support the death penalty and the mandatory appeal process. Putting someone (even 1 person) to death by mistake is worth taking the time of appeal. Look at David Keaton in FL, he could have been a mistake. I am more of the position that Saddam Hussein's execution of the sentence was politically timed for the new year than just speedy justice alone...

I couldnt agree with chipmaker more Yes he commited crimes against humanity but killing him only makes him a martary and it will do absolutly nothing in soliving this mess of a war it will only result in the deaths of more American troops and Iraq civilians. Isnt Bush the one always talking about trying not to emboldent the enemy well I think he just gave every Sunni insurgent a reason go out and attack Shitte and Americans. Look at the leader of the insurgents we killed, I forgott his name, we all said after he was dead the insurgents would have no head and the attacks would stop well they are more deadly now then they ever were. I am just tired of all the lies this admistration has given us.
And Like he said there are some many crimes against humanity going on at this moment
Maybe the President should be a little more concerened about the crimes that are going on now and try to stop them
Sorry if I rant to much

Theres nobody who can say sadam doesnt deserve to die. And now hes dead so thats the end of that. However, why sadam? Like chipmaker said, what about all the genocide still going on? Bush doesnt need to police that because well, darfur has no oil reserves. People dont just start wars without some perspective proffit. Bush knew what he was doing. Just because hes an idiot doesnt mean hes not a business man. In my opinion, this is a war that cant be won. I couldn't care less if the Iraqi people ever got their freedom. Thats their problem. I feel we lost our own soldiers so that people could continue to afford their h2s. If you honestly think george bush cares about the people in Iraq, why didnt he care about the people in new orleans? I dont have the exact time but wasnt it about 2 weeks until finally the VICE president showed up there? (call me on that if im wrong because as I said i dont have that info in front of me)

I dont know about that. Alot of crimes commited are out of desperation. Most people would rather die than spend life in prison so im sure it would make room in the prisons but it wouldnt cut crime. Criminals are going to commit crimes. I think the only way to actually lower the crime rate is to give more money to underdeveloped cities and invest more money into rehabilitation of teens to keep them from being the futures criminals.
Edit*** sorry about the complete change in subject. lol yay for iraq!

The quickest I think anyaaone has ever been executed in America wa Tim McVeigh. I mean he was no sooner caught tried convicted and given a cocktail........no big expenses to keep his butt alive and fancey pants lawyers sucking out the last dime of money they can get.............So if they can do it with McVeigh then they can do it with others. In Alabama its not uncommon for convicted criminals facing execution to be on death row for 15 to 20 years....and Alabama is not any different than any of the other states either. Why worry if lethal injection is humane or not, same for electric chair or gas chamber.....the bad guys did not have any concern for their victims, and IHNSO a piece of rope or a 20 cent bullet is cheaper than allthose chemicals for a cocktail or the power bill to fry em. Yea, the world is probably already a better place without Saddam, uynbfortunately what little it was improved no one will really notice, unless you may be a Kurd or such...but I have my doubts there since their is so much insurgent action it makes Saddam look like a choir boy.
